Arrival in Vientiane
You'll arrive at the airport and head to your hotel for check-in. If time allows, there's a half-day city tour through Vientiane's main temples. Wat Sisaket holds thousands of miniature Buddha statues throughout its grounds, while Wat Prakeo served as the former royal temple. The tour also includes That Luang Stupa and Patuxay Monument, so you get a solid overview of the city's key religious and historical sites.

Vientiane to Vang Vieng
You're heading north from Vientiane, and the drive takes you through countryside and mountainous terrain. Stop at Thalat market, a busy trading hub where hill tribe communities come to buy and sell goods. There's also time to walk through the 11th-century archaeological remains at Vang Xang. By late afternoon you'll reach Vang Vieng, situated along the Nam Song River where you can settle into your accommodation.

Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang
Start with a half-day exploring Tham Jang caves, then cross the river to Ban Huai Ngai village to see how locals actually live and work. In the afternoon, you'll transfer to the train station for your journey onward to Luang Prabang. Once you arrive, you'll check into your hotel and have free time to rest or wander around on your own.

Luang Prabang
After breakfast you have a full day of sightseeing in Luang Prabang. Visit the Royal Palace Museum, then check out Wat Sene, the oldest temple, and Wat Xiengthong with its distinctive architecture. You'll see Wat Visoun stupa and Wat Aham shrine before breaking for lunch. The afternoon continues with the Arts and Ethnology Centre, then it's off to weaving villages Ban Xiengkhong and Ban Xienglek. Climb Mount Phousi near sunset for city views, ending at the Night Market for dinner and browsing.

Luang Prabang
Morning starts at Phousi Market checking out local goods and hill-tribe weavings. You'll then visit ethnic minority villages, including Ban Ouay where Hmong people live, Ban Ou with Laoloum communities, and Ban Thapene settled by Khmu groups. Around midday head to Khuang Si Waterfall for a swim or forest walk to cool off. Later, take a Mekong River cruise stopping at Pak Ou Caves (filled with Buddha statues), Ban Xanghai for rice wine, and Ban Phanom for weaving, returning to Luang Prabang by evening.

Depending on your flight time, you'll have some leisure hours before transferring to the airport. Use this time to grab a final meal, pick up last-minute items, or just relax at your hotel before heading to your departing flight.
