- MSMarjorie· May 9th, 2025Madagascar is an amazing, unique country. Our driver and guide, Antsa, went out of his way to ensure us the best trip possible. He is knowledgeable, personable and a lot if fun. It was an overall great experience.Show moreFosa Travel commented on this reviewThanks for the awesome review, Marjorie. - LALynette· March 30th, 2025The tour was a fantastic experience and we certainly saw a lot of Madagascar. There was a lot of driving and the roads are in terrible condition so it was quite tiring but our driver and guide Jakka was amazing. Seeing the lemurs in the wild was a once in a lifetime experience as was seeing the Avenue of the Baobabs.Show moreTrip date: March 2025
- Lora· March 9th, 2025Just wow! Very good tour guide, Antsa. Our tour took us from Antananarivo east then west to the coast and back to Antananarivo. Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world and really is not tourist ready in most places. Expect power outages daily. Some of our hotels had generators, one did not. There really is no road system across Madagascar. Most unpaved or full of potholes and was very dusty when we were there. The ride is rough and long across the country, so be prepared. However, we loved the country, sights and people! The Baobab trees and lemurs were fantastic. Be sure to go the gem market in Antsirabe, Not on the tour, but I asked to go, so we went. Unbelievable prices! No credit cards, only cash. Take your debit card to Madagascar because they don't like US dollars and credit cards are not accepted in most places, only Malagasy dollars. ATM's are few and far between, so be prepared. Your guide should know where they are so ask if you need money, and you will. If you like to shop, the woven baskets range in price from $1-3, so leave room in your suitcase! Don't drink any water here - only bottled, which our tour guide provided. No diet sodas anywhere in Madagascar, so if you have to have it, bring it with you. In spite of the inconveniences, we really enjoyed this trip!Show moreFosa Travel commented on this reviewThanks for the awesome review, Lora. - Lennart· September 24th, 2024Perfectly organised and always on time! Great experience through and through. - RLRobert· August 12th, 2024Felt safe and everything worked as planned. Got to see a lot, but much time was spent driving so you have to enjoy seeing the countryside from a car. And all the roads were seen in both directions. Zaka was a good driver and a gentle person. Be prepared for up to 4 hours walks in steep forrests and resorts with many stairs. Apart from the stay in Tana Wifi was missing or unstable in the room. Buying 3 GB eSIM was a good investment. What could be improved was practical info, both before the trip and before leaving the resort for an excursion. Local guides could ask like "What? Did you not bring a torch?" or "You should have had sandals".Show moreFosa Travel commented on this reviewThanks for the awesome review, Robert. - BHBecca· August 2nd, 2024Fabulous tour! Antsa was far more than a driver—he added so much to our experience. Priceless!Show moreTrip date: July 2024
- Ian· July 30th, 2024As other reviews have said, there is a LOT of driving over less than okay roads. Outside of that, this is an excellent introductory experience for Madagascar. Plenty of lemurs and baobabs, as advertised. What makes this -- or any trip like this special - is the guide/driver. And Antse was incredible. Always in good humor and had stories and history to tell during our long drives in the vehicle. Be prepared for some great food -- and more just okay food (but that's not what you take this trip for!) Some bathroom stops if necessary in the middle of nowhere... all part of the experience, in our opinion! You could spend considerably more and fly from point to point, but you'd be missing out on the changing landscapes and seeing how the wonderful Malagasy people live.Show moreTrip date: July 2024
- Marius· April 1st, 2024What an amazing experience! The tour was very well organised, we managed to see all the attractions as presented in the itinerary, with plenty of time to explore at each stop. Our driver guide Antsa was super polite, knowledgeable and made his best to keep us entertained and informed. He accommodated all our stop requests and was flexible with the schedule of the day. I couldn’t have asked for a better driver guide. The distances between the attractions are quite big and the infrastructure of the Madagascar needs improvements, one must be aware that some big amount of time will be spent in the car travelling (and as mentioned in the itinerary), but we made the most of this and enjoyed the scenery snd got plenty of local stories from Antsa to keep us entertained. Hotels were acceptable (with a bit of a quality challenge in Morondava where rooms can be better cleaned and updated, and card payment was not always available, with the change being a challenge for the cash payments). However, amazing experience and definitely will do it again if I’ll have to decide.Show moreTrip date: March 2024
- DMDouglas Neil· August 13th, 2023We had a great 9 day experience in Madagascar! It was just the two of us on the tour which surprised us but Roger was a fantastic driver and was happy to answer our questions, and also to indulge our requests to stop by local markets to sample the foods. The wildlife and baobab trees were incredible however, like over reviews, please be mindful that you will spend about 3 days in total just driving in the car. One day was 11 hours. If you are happy to look out of the window and enjoy the beautiful scenery (may be download an audiobook!) then you’ll be fine but they are long days. We were a little surprised to find some items of the itinerary were not included (no rickshaw rides) mainly due to travel time (understandable, dirt roads and broken down trucks are common) but also that we were expected to buy the driver lunch (we would be willing to buy anyone a lunch after driving us 11 hours! But to know in advance would be appreciated). There was one day we requested not to attend another nature walk considering it was another 4 hour drive (after an 11 hour drive the day before) and that allowed us a little time to stop and enjoy the beautiful beach and scenery. That said, we look back on our trip very fondly. And thank Roger for always making sure we were well looked after!Show moreTrip date: July 2023

Asked on March 10th, 2025Is it possible to add some beach days somewhere close by at the end of this trip?
- Fosa TravelOperator•Written March 2025
We can add a few beach days at the end of your tour. You can enjoy the beach in Morondava or Kimony (in Morondava) before returning to Antananarivo, you can also travel to other famous beach site such as Nosy Be or Saint Marie. Please let us know where do you prefer to go and we will adjust your itinerary.

Traveler•Written March 2025Would you recommend one over the other? Which one would be easier to get to at the end of the tour? Is one more expensive than the other? Do you fly or drive there?
- Fosa TravelOperator•Written March 2025
Both are great beach destinations. Nosy Be has more things to do, such as taking speed boat to visit small islands nearby. Saint Marie is more for people who like calm and relax. Both of the destinations need to go by flight. Nosy Be is a more famous touristic destination which makes it more expensive than Saint Marie. The domestic flights to Nosy be are more frequent too.

Traveler•Written March 2025I would like to have three full days there to enjoy. With the logistics of getting there, i'm not sure how many nights i would need there, four? The day the main tour ends, can i get to Nosy Be that same day? Also, what is the costs to add on this to the trip? Also, what accommodation do you recommend in Nosy Be?
- O
Olivia
Traveler•Written March 2025As far as flights, I was looking and it seems to be better for me to fly home from Antananarivo. If I take the 20:40 flight from Nosy BE - would I be back in time to catch a 12:30 am flight on 6/6 to return? Also - as far as activities in Nosy Be - I do want to either go snorkeling or diving, plus want to ride horses. I am not sure on the other items - let me look them up and see if I am interested. I do not need private tours, but an English speaking tours would be best.

Traveler•Written March 2025For the diving, I have not been diving in a while - so will need to not be too advanced of a dive - not too deep or in currents. A long horse ride sounds good - 3 hours - is it all on the beach - or in the jungle too?
- Fosa TravelOperator•Written April 2025
We can arrange easier diving sessions for you. We can book the flight ticket for you, today's the price for a return flight is 328 euro. The 3-hour horse riding session will take place on the beach.

Asked on March 1st, 2025I like your best seller 9-day Baobabs and Lemurs Tour itinerary, but I also want to go to Bekopaka's UNESCO World Heritage Site. Can I take your tour but leave from Morondava and go to Berkopaka and then fly back to Antananarivo? Can you arrange for such a tour and charge less for the 2 days after Morondava?
- Fosa TravelOperator•Written March 2025
we can customise your trip to visit Bekopaka. However, November is almost the rain season and it may not be possible to travel to Bekopaka due to the condition of the road. Will you consider to start your tour earlier?
