Londorosi Park Gate to Mti Mkubwa Campsite
You'll start your Kilimanjaro trek with a drive to Londorosi Park Gate, then head through forest tracks toward your first camp. The hike itself is about 2.5 miles and takes around 3 to 4 hours total, so it's a manageable introduction to get you acclimated and settled at Mti Mkubwa Campsite.

Lemosho Glades to Shira 1 Camp
This day involves climbing through giant heather moorland as the trail gets steeper. You'll cross several streams along the way on this 5.5-mile hike up to Shira 1 Camp, which sits on the Shira Plateau. The elevation gain continues gradually as you move higher.

Shira Plateau Acclimatization
You'll take a gentler walk across the Shira Plateau to reach Shira 2 Camp. Since this is a shorter hiking day, you'll have plenty of time for acclimatization, and optional walks around the plateau are available if you want to move around a bit more.

Shira Plateau to Barranco Hut
From Shira Plateau, you'll head eastward toward Kibo Peak, passing Lava Tower (also called Shark's Tooth) and Arrow Glacier on the way down to Barranco Hut. It's an acclimatization day even though you end at roughly the same elevation you started, and this preparation matters for the summit push ahead.

Barranco to Karanga Hut
You'll tackle the steep Barranco Wall early on, then continue through Karanga Valley toward Karanga Hut. This section of the Southern Circuit is challenging, so after you arrive, focus on resting and drinking water. Dinner comes later once you've had time to recover.

- Day 6
Karanga Valley to Barafu Hut
Keep ascending to Barafu Hut as you complete the Southern Circuit route. From here, you'll get views of both of Kilimanjaro's peaks. Your guide will give you a final briefing about the summit attempt, so listen carefully and ask questions about what to expect.

Summit Attempt and Descent to Mweka Hut
You'll start very early in the morning for the push to Uhuru Peak at 19,636 feet, the highest point in Africa. The ascent happens in cold predawn darkness, then after reaching the summit, you'll descend roughly 5 hours down to Mweka Hut. If you're moving quickly, you might catch sunrise from the top. Beer and soda are for sale at Mweka Hut if you want them.

Landmarks/POIs Uhuru Peak Mweka Hut - Day 8
Mweka Gate Descent and Return to Moshi
You'll make the final descent from Mweka Hut to Mweka Park Gate in 4 to 5 hours. Expect muddy and wet conditions at the lower elevations, so watch your footing. A vehicle will pick you up at the gate and drive you back to your hotel. Before you go, remember to tip your guides and porters.
