Itinerary
- Day 1
Airport to Kandy
You'll get picked up at the airport and head to Kandy with stops at Pinnawala Elephants Orphanage and a spice garden. Once you check in at your hotel, there's time to walk around Kandy's UNESCO heritage sites, particularly the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Later in the evening, catch a Kandyan cultural show featuring traditional dancers, drummers, and a fire walking performance.

Kandy to Dambulla
After breakfast, it's off to Dambulla to see the Golden Rock cave temple, a UNESCO site that's been an important pilgrimage spot for centuries. You'll walk through five caverns containing 157 Buddha statues, see extensive Buddhist murals, and check out the 47-foot recumbent Buddha. By evening, you'll be settled at your hotel with time to yourself.

Sigiriya
Following breakfast, you'll climb Sigiriya, the 5th-century rock fortress rising 200 meters high. The trek takes you past a moat and ramparts, through old water gardens, past the Lion's Paw entrance, and you'll see famous frescoes along the way. There's also a Mirror Wall carved into the rock face during your visit up.

After eating, you'll travel to Trincomalee on the east coast. This peninsula town sits between inner and outer harbors with clear turquoise water and white sand beaches. You can swim, try windsurfing, go scuba diving, fish, or look for whales during your time here.

Trincomalee

Trincomalee to Arugam Bay
After breakfast, you'll head to Arugam Bay on the east coast, famous for its wide sandy beach and consistent waves. This is one of the top surf spots globally, and the season runs from April through October with good offshore conditions during that window.

Arugam Bay

Arugam Bay to Yala National Park
After breakfast, you'll leave Arugam Bay's beaches and head inland to Yala's jungles. Check into your hotel, then take a private jeep safari through Yala National Park with a guide and tracker. You might see elephants, Sri Lankan leopards, spotted deer, sambar, wild buffalo, sloth bears, jackals, crocodiles, and peacocks. Leopards live here but spotting them takes luck since they're active at night.

Yala National Park to Colombo
Following breakfast, travel to Colombo, the country's commercial hub. Explore 'Fort', the city center built by the Portuguese in the 1600s where old colonial buildings mix with new ones. Walk through the bustling Pettah markets and bazaars, check out the National Museum for antiques and local art, visit Buddhist temples and Hindu Kovils to see the religious diversity, or spend time shopping.
