Itinerary
- Day 1
Kathmandu
A Sherpa Expeditions representative picks you up on arrival and drives you to your hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu. After going over the trek briefing with your guide, you'll have the rest of the day to wander around Thamel's tourist hub, which is the main area for shops, restaurants, and trekking outfitters.

Kathmandu
Guided sightseeing starts at 8:30 a.m. You'll head to Bouddhanath Stupa first to see Buddhist monks at prayer, then move on to Pashupatinath Hindu temple along the Bagmati River where you can see sadhus and sometimes funeral pyres. After that, the tour covers Bhaktapur Durbar Square with its famous 55-window palace, various temples, and historic gates. Your afternoon is free to check out Thamel or pick up any supplies you need for trekking.

Kathmandu to Phakding
Early morning 35-minute mountain flight to Lukla Airport (Tenzing-Hillary Airport) with views of the world's highest peaks surrounding you. After breakfast in Lukla, you'll start trekking for about 3 hours through the foothills, arriving in Phakding Village where you'll stay the night.

Landmarks Tenzing-Hillary Airport - Day 4
Phakding to Namche Bazaar
Today's trek follows the banks of the Dudh Kosi River through Himalayan Pine and Deodar Cedar forests as you head toward Namche Bazaar. This large Sherpa village is the main trading hub where merchants from Nepal and Tibet buy and sell salt, dried meat, and textiles.

- Day 5
Namche Bazaar
This is your acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar, and it's important to stay active rather than rest completely. Medical experts say this helps prevent altitude sickness. You can optionally visit nearby villages like Khumjung and Khudi for lunch, both known for good bakeries. There's also an optional five-hour trek to Everest View Hotel if you want to see Mount Everest and the surrounding peaks, then you'll return to Namche Bazaar for the night.

Namche Bazaar to Dole
Leaving Namche Bazaar, you'll take an easygoing trail that crosses several valleys through rhododendron, juniper, and coniferous forests. In spring, the rhododendron forests are in bloom with a lingering scent in the air. You might spot Sherpas with herds of yak grazing on the green slopes. The day ends at Dole Village (4190m/13,747 ft).

- Day 7
Dole to Machhermo
The trail gets tougher today as you trek through denser forest at higher altitudes with fewer villages around. The path climbs up the side of the valley to Machhermo, a small attractive village in the Khumbu region that Sherpas believe is home to the mythical Yeti.

Landmarks Machhermo Village - Day 8
Machhermo to Gokyo
You'll trek uphill about 300 meters to reach Gokyo Valley and arrive at the small village of Gokyo at the base of Gokyo Peak. Ngozumpa Glacier is nearby, which is the largest glacier in the Himalayas. From Gokyo, you get views of massive 8000-meter peaks including Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and Lhotse.

- Day 9
Gokyo to Gokyo Ri and Machhermo
This challenging day involves trekking to Gokyo Ri (Gokyo Peak) at 5357 meters/17,575 ft in the Khumbu region. The peak offers views of major mountains in the area, including Mount Everest. After spending time there for photos and taking in the scenery, you'll head back down to Machhermo for the night.

Landmarks Gokyo Ri - Day 10
Machhermo to Namche Bazaar
Today you'll return to Namche Bazaar on an easy trail that passes through several Sherpa villages and smaller out-of-the-way settlements. The descent brings you back to this famous trading village where you'll spend the night.

Namche Bazaar to Lukla
The trek from Namche Bazaar back to Lukla is mostly downhill and fairly easygoing overall. Once you arrive in Lukla, the rest of the day is free for well-earned rest. If you still have energy, you can check out nearby places of interest around the town.

Lukla to Kathmandu
Early morning flight back to Kathmandu with the mountains gradually receding behind you as you fly. After arriving back in the city, you'll have time to relax, reflect on your trek, and explore further. Your guide can help with shopping or arrange additional sightseeing if you're interested.

Kathmandu
Your final day in Nepal. A Sherpa Expeditions representative will transport you to the airport about 3 hours before your scheduled flight for your journey home. Take time to reflect on your adventure to some of the world's highest peaks.
