Tour radar provided excellent service from planning to providing the needed documents from the beginning. They were readily available for all the questions via their portal and also available via WhatsApp chat on the tour. They are great service and good value for money.

We have booked your offer from Germany with sta travel in Mannheim. And we were really disappointed. We have paied approx. 900,00 Euro/person which is quite expensive compared to what we booked while we travelled through Argentina organized by ourselves! What went wrong? Both accomodations (El Calafate and Ushuaia) are suitable for young travellers and worth max. 30,00 Euro/night. Los pioneros in El Calafate have been raided by a school class which partied the whole night. They moved us to their hotel but there the rooms are very audible. The heating is managed centrally therefore it was very cold the first two nights. Los cormoranes in Ushuaia is definitely in a poor overall condition. The adjoining properties are filled up with rubbish and junk. The rooms are very audible. The bidet wasn't usable without notice. If you travel with a suitcase this hostel is not the place to be! Unfortunately even the tours weren't very well organized: we had different times scheduled and told by itinerary and reception. We had to buy our own food for both tours although for the Tour to Torres El Paine you could have booked even specialized food in advance. Than the worst: the booked buses are the normal onces! You could have booked them also by yourselves for the same price. You have to organize your shuttle from the hostel/hotel to the central bus station (El Calafate-Rio Gallegos-Ushuaia) in the night at 02.30 a.m. completely by yourself. We were not picked up by the local travel agency in Ushuaia. Therefore we had to organize also this shuttle from central bus station Ushuaia to Los cormoranes by ourselves. The booked tour the next day had also two different scheduled starting times. The promised shuttle service to Ushuaia airport was also a failure because they weren't able to bring us to the airport later than 06.30 a.m. althoug our flight started at 2.00 p.m.. Summarizing you have no advantage to let the whole tour be booked by HiTravel Argentina! You can get more out of your paied money if you book the complete tour by yourself. What a waste of money and energy!

HI travel were very helpful with answering any questions I had and when I didn't have my bus ticket on the last morning they sorted it out. The arrangements with transport and accommodation were good. Going to the briefing before the trek was helpful and The Singing Lamb was an excellent hostel. The Refugio central was very good but I found Domo Frances and Refugio Paine Grande cold. The path to Mirador Británico was dangerous due to snow covering the signs and should have been closed by park or signs cleared. The trek was independent.

During the W trek you'll hike 71 km approximatly but during the Perito Moreno tour it depends on the trails you take. It's not a hike(perito moreno tour), just a walking tour.

Can you provide exact details about the hiking length and elevation gain?

    Tour Details
    • Hi Travel ArgentinaOperatorWritten April 2022

Be prepared to endure long (but beautiful) walks. Distances are about the following: Day 2 from Sector Central to Base Torres and return: 28 km or about 9 hours. Day 3 from Sector Central to Refugio Frances: 24 km or about 7-8 hours. Day 4 from Refugio Frances to Paine Grande via mirador Frances and mirador Britanico: 20 km or about 8 to 9 hours. Day 5 you may walk 12-14 km or about 5-6 hours. Regarding elevation gain, there is low difference between refugios. Maximum elevation around 1000 masl.

    Asked on March 12th, 2022

How is food provided during the W trek? Is there a concessionaire at the hostels, or tent areas that provides it? For supplies, is it correct to assume I provide my own sleeping bag and mattress? How full are the hostels or tents on the W trek? Do I need to be concerned about finding a place to sleep? Can you, or should you, bring a tarp or small tent in case all the lodging has been taken? I'm a solo traveler. Do you arrange to include me with another group, or do you just setup my itinerary and send me on my way?

    • Hi Travel ArgentinaOperatorWritten March 2022

During the W trek you will have full board (breakfast, lunch box, dinner). Yes, there is a concessionaire. The tent option includes the tent, mattress and a sleeping bag. There is no need to take your own stuff and carry them during the treks. If you are a solo traveller, you'll receive single tent. Tent option is only single or double. At the refugio you will be sharing rooms like in a hostel dorm. During the W trek you'll have the 4 nights included (refugio or tent option). Our tours are independent this means you'll be meeting people during the day tours but there is not a group where you can join during all your trip. For the W trek, most of the times they usually meet people and if they share the rhythm to walk, they start taking their tracks together.

    Asked on January 9th, 2022

Wondering how this works if we land in Argentina and then leave from Chile? Been doing some research and currently it seems like tourists aren't allowed the cross the borders with out a 24 hr PCR test on either side of the boarder, which adds up to a possible additional 48 hrs upon arrival and departure. How is your company handling that, or getting around it? Or is the trip unable to be booked at this time, due to this constraint?

    • Hi Travel ArgentinaOperatorWritten January 2022

Yes, there have been complications. The border between El Calafate and Puerto Natales was supposed to be open for tourists from the 3rd January on, but it is not working yet, so we are all expecting news about it. On the date you want to do the trek, it is supposed to be open, but these Covid times we cant suppose much. What we have done with many customers in order not to risk, is to avoid combining countries. Either doing the W Trek or Visiting Argentina.
