Start your day with a guided tour through Chennai's historical heart. You'll walk through Fort St. George, then head to St. Mary's Church and Santhome Cathedral Basilica. Your guide will fill you in on the city's British colonial past and the history of the apostle St. Thomas. After you've covered the main sites, grab lunch at a local restaurant before settling into your hotel for the night.

Chennai to Mahabalipuram
Morning takes you to Kanchipuram where you'll see the temples and check out the silk production that the town's known for. The drive to Mahabalipuram comes next, and after you check in, spend the afternoon exploring Shore Temple and Arjuna's Penance. Both are significant examples of Indian architecture carved into rock, and you'll get a real sense of the craftsmanship once you're there in person.

Walk around the heritage colonial buildings scattered throughout the city as well.
