Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakech to Boumalne Dades
You'll start with a pickup from your Marrakech accommodation and head up into the High Atlas Mountains, passing through Berber villages along the way. The route takes you to Tickha peak where you get panoramic views of the mountain range. From there, you'll visit the 18th-century Telouet Kasbah before moving on to Ait Ben Haddou, the UNESCO-listed fortress you've probably seen in films like Lawrence of Arabia. After lunch near the Kasbah, the drive continues through Skoura and the Valley of Roses, and you'll reach Boumalne Dades by evening for dinner and your overnight stay.

Boumalne Dades to Sahara Desert
Following breakfast, you'll take a scenic drive to Todra Gorge near Tinghir, where you can see dramatic canyon walls and a flowing river cutting through them. The route continues through desert towns like Erfoud and Rissani, giving you a chance to experience local culture along the way. Later, you'll either take a camel ride or travel by 4WD vehicle out to Morocco's highest sand dunes with their distinctive pink color. You'll watch the sunset from the dunes, then settle in for a Moroccan dinner with live traditional music and drumming lessons around the campfire. The night is spent in Berber tents, and if the sky is clear, you might catch views of the Milky Way.

Sahara Desert to Fez
You'll travel from the desert region toward Fez, passing through Errachidia and the scenic Ziz Valley. Along the way, the landscape shifts as you pass the commercial center of Midelt, which sits in an agricultural area. Driving through Cedar forests gives you chances to spot Barbary macaques if you're lucky. You'll stop in Ifrane to see its distinctive alpine-style architecture and the iconic lion statue, then continue to Fez, arriving by early evening for your accommodation.
