Itinerary
- Day 1
Accra Arrival
You'll land at Kotoka International Airport and get transferred to your hotel. After you get settled in, there's a welcome dinner with some orientation and entertainment. If you want to order custom-made Ghanaian traditional outfits, professional tailors are available right at the hotel.

- Day 2
Accra City Tour
This day takes you through Accra's mix of old and new. Start at the W.E.B. Du Bois Center to see where the Pan-Africanism leader lived and was buried. Then head to the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, set in a park that celebrates Ghana's independence. By evening, you'll reach the Art Center, Ghana's oldest open market, where you can try bargaining with vendors and capture photos of the lively capital.

National Museum and Makola Market
The National Museum of Ghana opens up three major galleries with ancient and contemporary African artifacts, sculptures, traditional clothing, handcrafted instruments, and chiefs' regalia. You'll also see a sculpture garden featuring life-size 3-D images of Kwame Nkrumah and other political figures. After lunch, head over to Makola Market, Accra's largest outdoor market, where you can watch busy traders and soak in the colorful scenes while doing some local shopping.

Nkyimkyim Museum
At the Nkyimkyim Museum, you'll find African art, history, and live performance all together including drumming, dancing, and traditional rites. The museum addresses legacies of African enslavement and colonialism, helping visitors reconnect to their roots. You'll participate in lighting candles as a way to honor heroes who sacrificed for freedom and unity.

Cape Coast Castle and Kakum National Park
You'll travel to Cape Coast Castle, which marks the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Built in 1555 as a Portuguese trading post and later developed by the Swedish in 1653, the castle grounds and historic rooms tell centuries-old stories. In the afternoon, head to Kakum National Park for the canopy walkway, Africa's only aerial walkway spanning 1,000 feet with seven bridges 150 feet above the ground. Keep watch for vibrant birds, butterflies, and possibly monkeys or forest elephants.

Elmina Castle and Colonial Town
Start in Elmina with St. George's Castle, built by the Portuguese in 1482 as the first European structure in sub-Saharan Africa. You'll walk through the castle grounds and rooms filled with centuries of history. After that, take a walking tour through the colonial town of Elmina, wander through the fishing village, and see the unique architectural heritage shaped by European influences and the region's trading past.

Assin Manso Slave River to Kumasi
On the way to Kumasi, you'll stop at the Assin Manso Slave River, the final stop on the slavery route from Northern Ghana and the largest slave market in the area. It's a place to reflect on history, including where Samuel Carson from the USA and Crystal from Jamaica were reburied in 1998. Then you'll continue to Kumasi, the historical and spiritual heart of the Ashanti Kingdom, where you can explore one of Africa's largest central markets selling Ashanti crafts, leather goods, pottery, kente cloth, tropical fruits, and vegetables.

Akan Naming Ceremony at Ashanti Kingdom Palace
You'll participate in an Akan naming ceremony at the Ashanti Kingdom palace. In the morning, you receive new Ashanti names as part of initiation rites. These names are traditionally given based on the day you were born and often paired with those of great ancestors who led exemplary lives. This ceremony is designed for people of African descent in the diaspora wanting to reconnect and find their roots.

Return to Accra
The drive back to Accra takes most of the morning and afternoon. After hours on the road, you'll rest at your hotel and then get ready for an evening of nightlife entertainment.
