An early pickup gets you on the road to Dana Biosphere Reserve, about two and a half hours away. This day takes you from Furon past Ras Al-Feid toward Ghbour Whedat through some of Jordan's most remote territory. You'll follow Bedouin shepherd paths that wind around the Sharah Mountains, passing black mountain peaks and steep canyon drops. The trail gradually climbs higher, giving you more desert vistas before you reach your wilderness campsite.

At Little Petra itself, you'll see rock-carved houses and buildings cut right into the sandstone canyon, what people believe was a trading hub for the silk road.

Pleasant tracks take you down through Wadi Ghurab between sandstone mountains, then follow an old Nabatean route that edges around the final mountain on a natural rock terrace. The Monastery suddenly appears carved into the cliff, and there's a Bedouin café here for a break. From there you continue down through ancient Petra, then through Wadi Muthlim (weather permitting) to the visitors center and back to your Bedouin camp.

You'll see the rock colors and formations throughout the day as you walk among hundreds of carved tombs, the treasury, Roman theaters, temples, and old streets. Later you transfer to Wadi Rum for a four-wheel drive tour, climbing sand dunes and rock bridges, exploring valleys and canyons, finding rock inscriptions and mountain views. Back at your Bedouin camp by evening to experience their hospitality.
