Reviews of Small Group tours to Jordan
- Passage to Petra - 6 days
I joined the 6-day Passage to Petra tour on Feb 18-23, 2024. My experience has been a awesome and memorable one. Every single encounter was faultless from beginning to end. Everything was stellar, from the Customer Service team who answered all my questions in a very timely, informative and professional manner, to the representative (I'm sorry I forgot his name) who met me at the Queen Alia Airport and helped me with the visitor visa, customs, luggage (there was an issue with my luggage, and he got me through that ordeal), to the hotel and restaurant choices. I liked the trip notes, and how everything was organized and clearly stated, even the budget. The itinerary was good, we covered a lot in a short span of time. Knowing what I know now, I would have stayed a few more days for more exploration and to truly soak it all in. The best part was our guide! I love our guide, Ghaedan N. (G for short) and driver Musa. They made our trip not just full of information and history, but full of heart, and I fell in love with the country because of their passion for it. I was very happy that we were a small group and we were all able to bond well. The history was fascinating and G made it come alive. He took care of every single person who didn't feel well, made sure to give us choices, gave advice on dealing with situations, and made sure we were all having a good time. Because there was an opportunity, he even took us to a couple of special places that highlighted how warm, welcoming and friendly the Jordanians are. I am very happy and blessed that I went to Jordan, and that I went with On the Go Tours. I will definitely check out your other trips/itineraries. One of the ladies I met on the trip said she went with On the Go a few times and have not been disappointed. I thank you, On the Go Tours Team. Keep up the good work!
- Experience Jordan Tour
This was one of the most amazing trips we’ve ever taken. Our group included 5 couples and 4 singles — 7 men and 7 women from 9 countries (I counted our Kiwi living in London as two!). Ages ranged from the 20s to the 70s, and by the end, we all felt like lifelong friends. We chose Experience Jordan because their program looked challenging but not grueling — and it was exactly that. From our first inquiry, Shushan was wonderfully responsive, answering all our questions. They arranged a smooth pickup from our hotel. Our guide, Motaz, was exceptional: warm, knowledgeable, and endlessly patient. He built instant rapport with the group, helped my wife through some of the steeper sections, and kept everyone safe, hydrated, and well-fed. His commentary on geology, geography, and history turned every stop into a lesson — like showing how the Bedouins make cosmetics from stones and soap from plants. The itinerary was perfectly paced. Each day offered incredible views and rewarding hikes, followed by comfortable, well-organized camps. Our tents were ready on arrival, with real pillows, thick foam mattresses, and warm blankets — quite cozy in the 12–15°C nights of late September. After changing out of hiking gear, we’d relax with tea around the campfire and watch the sunset — pure magic. Meals were simple but fresh and satisfying. Every day began with breakfast and a “build-your-own” lunch bag, and ended with hearty dinners of soup, salad, and chicken or vegetable mains. Fresh fruit and vegetables were always available, and we all appreciated the tea and treats (dates, cookies) served along the trail. Our luggage was always waiting for us at camp, allowing us to hike light each day. Everything ran flawlessly. The Experience(d) Jordan team has their logistics perfected — nothing ever felt rushed or uncertain. This trip exceeded our highest expectations and stands out as one of the highlights of our travels (we’ve visited over 80 countries). I would recommend this trip without hesitation to anyone in decent shape. I was the oldest in our group (age 70), and running 4 miles a few times a week was good preparation. This group was exceptional. Nobody knew anyone else at the start, but the camaraderie that developed was truly special. I cannot say that Experience Jordan created all of that, but they certainly attracted the right people for the right reasons and gave us the right environment to make that happen. (Luck? Maybe, but luck favors the prepared.) It was a truly unforgettable adventure — one we’ll be talking about for years to come.
- Discover Jordan: Petra & the Civilizations of the Past
Jordanian trip was excellent. The country was very interesting, and when problems arose, communication with the local officials was handled efficiently. All our repeated questions about Jordan were patiently answered with helpful information. Five stars out of five. :)
What our customers ask about Jordan Small Group Tours
What are the typical group sizes for small group tours in Jordan?
Most small group tours in Jordan keep numbers between 8 and 16 participants which allows for easier movement through archaeological sites and desert landscapes. This size works well for navigating popular spots like Petra and lets travelers get to know their fellow adventurers. Local hotels like the Larsa in Amman can accommodate these groups comfortably without splitting them up. As one TourRadar traveler noted "The size of the group (16) was the maximum we would have wanted." These smaller numbers also make it easier to visit Bedouin communities and arrange special experiences.
How does the accommodation vary on small group tours in Jordan?
Accommodations on Jordan's small group tours range from urban hotels to desert camps offering different perspectives on the country. In Petra travelers often stay at established properties like the Petra Moon Hotel while Wadi Rum features traditional Bedouin camps such as The Captain's Camp. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The hotels recommended by our tour operator—Petra Moon Hotel The Captains Camp and Ramada Hotel—were very good offering both comfort and authentic experiences."
What is the best way to experience Petra with a small group tour?
Small group dynamics allow for strategic timing at Petra including early morning visits before the crowds arrive. Groups can take lesser-known paths like the back route to the Monastery and spend time at Little Petra without rushing. Hotels like the Movenpick Petra or Petra Guest House provide convenient bases for exploration. A TourRadar traveler shared: "With our small group we could move at our own pace through the Siq and spend extra time photographing the Treasury without feeling rushed."
How does the cultural experience in Jordan differ with small group tours?
Small numbers create more opportunities for genuine local connections whether in Bedouin camps or city markets. Groups can join cooking classes in Petra visit family homes for meals and explore Amman's bazaars without overwhelming local spaces. The setup at places like Sun City Camp in Wadi Rum and neighborhood restaurants like Al-Qantara allows for natural conversation with locals. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Being in a small group allowed us to have dinner with a local family and learn about Jordanian traditions in a way that wouldn't be possible with a large group."
