Reviews of Small Group tours to Jordan
- Passage to Petra - 6 days
I joined the 6-day Passage to Petra tour on Feb 18-23, 2024. My experience has been a awesome and memorable one. Every single encounter was faultless from beginning to end. Everything was stellar, from the Customer Service team who answered all my questions in a very timely, informative and professional manner, to the representative (I'm sorry I forgot his name) who met me at the Queen Alia Airport and helped me with the visitor visa, customs, luggage (there was an issue with my luggage, and he got me through that ordeal), to the hotel and restaurant choices. I liked the trip notes, and how everything was organized and clearly stated, even the budget. The itinerary was good, we covered a lot in a short span of time. Knowing what I know now, I would have stayed a few more days for more exploration and to truly soak it all in. The best part was our guide! I love our guide, Ghaedan N. (G for short) and driver Musa. They made our trip not just full of information and history, but full of heart, and I fell in love with the country because of their passion for it. I was very happy that we were a small group and we were all able to bond well. The history was fascinating and G made it come alive. He took care of every single person who didn't feel well, made sure to give us choices, gave advice on dealing with situations, and made sure we were all having a good time. Because there was an opportunity, he even took us to a couple of special places that highlighted how warm, welcoming and friendly the Jordanians are. I am very happy and blessed that I went to Jordan, and that I went with On the Go Tours. I will definitely check out your other trips/itineraries. One of the ladies I met on the trip said she went with On the Go a few times and have not been disappointed. I thank you, On the Go Tours Team. Keep up the good work!
- Jordan Encounters
It was a lovely journey. Our guide Riyad was delightful. He was competent, caring, professional with a great sense of humor and I felt we were in capable hands. Our driver Waleed was also a terrific gentleman. Although Petra is certainly a main attraction, experiencig Jerash was equally as awesome. Our home stay was wonderful with warm, cozy accommodations and a most hospitable guide in Esa and fabulous meals prepared by his charming wife. One concern is Petra by Night. Although it seems to be highly recommended, it’s a rather precarious walk over rocks and very uneven surfaces in the dim light and although it was lovely to see the spectacle, my 3 companions felt as I did that it didn’t quite live up to its promise We were all much happier to go in the next morning early and missed the crowds. And by going in at night you miss the grandeur and the majesty of the Siq. Oh and by the way, staying overnight at Wadi Rum and doing the camel ride before sunup was also a great experience. I’ve left out so many of the magnificent and interesting ancient structures we also visited but they were very worthwhile to see as well. One more slight cavil: a little down time would have been welcome. I think I’ve forgotten to mention the food, which was absolutely delicious, whether on our own or meals that were provided. In conclusion my friends and I. Had a marvelous journey and we would not hesitate to book through TourRadar or Encounters another time

What our customers ask about Jordan Small Group Tours
What are the typical group sizes for small group tours in Jordan?
Most small group tours in Jordan keep numbers between 8 and 16 participants which allows for easier movement through archaeological sites and desert landscapes. This size works well for navigating popular spots like Petra and lets travelers get to know their fellow adventurers. Local hotels like the Larsa in Amman can accommodate these groups comfortably without splitting them up. As one TourRadar traveler noted "The size of the group (16) was the maximum we would have wanted." These smaller numbers also make it easier to visit Bedouin communities and arrange special experiences.
How does the accommodation vary on small group tours in Jordan?
Accommodations on Jordan's small group tours range from urban hotels to desert camps offering different perspectives on the country. In Petra travelers often stay at established properties like the Petra Moon Hotel while Wadi Rum features traditional Bedouin camps such as The Captain's Camp. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The hotels recommended by our tour operator—Petra Moon Hotel The Captains Camp and Ramada Hotel—were very good offering both comfort and authentic experiences."
What is the best way to experience Petra with a small group tour?
Small group dynamics allow for strategic timing at Petra including early morning visits before the crowds arrive. Groups can take lesser-known paths like the back route to the Monastery and spend time at Little Petra without rushing. Hotels like the Movenpick Petra or Petra Guest House provide convenient bases for exploration. A TourRadar traveler shared: "With our small group we could move at our own pace through the Siq and spend extra time photographing the Treasury without feeling rushed."
How does the cultural experience in Jordan differ with small group tours?
Small numbers create more opportunities for genuine local connections whether in Bedouin camps or city markets. Groups can join cooking classes in Petra visit family homes for meals and explore Amman's bazaars without overwhelming local spaces. The setup at places like Sun City Camp in Wadi Rum and neighborhood restaurants like Al-Qantara allows for natural conversation with locals. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Being in a small group allowed us to have dinner with a local family and learn about Jordanian traditions in a way that wouldn't be possible with a large group."
