Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kigali

    You'll arrive at Kigali International Airport and head straight to Kigali Serena Hotel for check-in. The rest of the afternoon is yours to settle in and relax at this centrally located property, which features Rwandan artwork throughout the space. It's a good time to catch your breath after traveling and get oriented to the city.

  2. Day 2

    Nyungwe National Park

    After breakfast, you'll head to Nyanza King's Palace to learn about Rwandan royal heritage and see the historical structures. Next stop is the National Museum of Rwanda in Butare, where you can walk through galleries of traditional artifacts and crafts. Grab lunch before driving to Nyungwe National Park for the Canopy Walk, which takes you across suspended bridges through the rainforest. Later you'll check in at Nyungwe Hill Top View Hotel, positioned on a scenic tea plantation with views across the landscape.

  3. Day 3

    Nyungwe National Park

    Start early for chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe. You'll move through the forest with expert guides, watching for chimps swinging through the canopy or moving along the forest floor. Back at the hotel by afternoon, you'll have time to rest and take in the tea plantation surroundings from your room or the hotel grounds.

    Nyungwe National Park to Gisenyi

    After breakfast, the drive to Gisenyi takes you to Lake Kivu's shores. Once you arrive at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel, the afternoon is open for you to relax by the water, use the hotel's amenities, or take a leisurely walk along the lakeside to get a feel for the town.

    Gisenyi to Volcanoes National Park

    After breakfast at the lake, you'll drive toward Volcanoes National Park. Along the way, you'll stop at Ibyiwacu Cultural Village to learn about local traditions, hear traditional music and dances, and explore regional history through conversations with villagers. By evening you'll be settled at Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel, which offers views of the Virunga Mountains.

  6. Day 6

    Volcanoes National Park

    An early start gets you into the mist-covered slopes of the Virunga Mountains for gorilla trekking. You'll spend roughly an hour observing a family of mountain gorillas, watching how they interact and move through their habitat with your guide. After the trek, you'll return to Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel to rest and process the experience.

After lunch, you'll drive back to Kigali for your final night at Kigali Serena Hotel, giving you time to enjoy the city's amenities and prepare for your departure.

The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
