AMELITA· July 30th, 2023Gaetano was our guide for our visit to the Puglia region in southern Italy. We visited pretty coastal towns, and ancient cliff houses and stone huts. Gaetano was very familiar with the area, and did an excellent job of explaining the sights. He also gave us good recommendations for places to eat and shop. Our hotels were great! Phil had a foot problem that made it hard for him to climb many stairs. Gaetano found routes and alternative ways that let Phil see all the sights. Gaetano was flexible and would add and/or slightly change or adjust plans to suit our desires. His itinerary is well thought out to insure a nice balance of discovering beautiful historical and geographically interesting sites, as well as meeting locals with small businesses like vineyards, olive oil and burrata cheese producers. He is a warm caring individual who makes everyone feel like family immediately. While in Alberobello on short notice, he arranged to have a medical doctor come to our Trulli house in the evening to examine my wife's tendinitis foot condition so that we could continue the tour. On our Puglia tour we only have walking tours through towns, at a very slow pace, and we don't have any hike or climb, only some up and down with stairs in Matera and Ostuni. You can contact us directly for more details.

All the hotels have elevators. In Alberobello you sleep in a trullo that is on ground level, only few stairs inside it. Apart from Matera and Ostuni, where we have stairs and up and downs, the rest of the places we visit are easy to walk. In Otranto there are few stairs to reach the top of the tower where we have a view of the place, and then few stairs to access the crypt of the Church we visit. In Galatina just few stairs to access the Churches we visit. In Gallipoli there are 15 stairs to go down into the underground olive mill we visit. In Polignano a mare is a flat walk. The only one that can give you a little problem can be when we visit the castle of Castel del Monte, since we have to go from the ground floor to the first floor and then back down, but it can be done slowly and we can help you out.
