Reviews of Small Group tours to Ghana
- 3 Day Guided Tour to Mole National Park Ghana Africa
We had an excellent guide, David. We saw many animals including elephants and enjoyed a wide range of activities from a canoe ride and visit to the eco village to visiting the oldest Mosque in Ghana and a very modern art complex. Everything was well organised and both David and the safari guide, Abdul, were extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. The lodge is basic but comfortable with great views and food.
- Educational Tour of Ghana (A Journey Through History and Culture)
Oh wow, where do I begin? Our tour with Olives Travel and Tours has exceeded all of our expectations in so many ways. First of all, before I even arrived I hadn’t realized that I needed a visa to enter Ghana as an American citizen. I realized this just 2 days before my departure date. I contacted the Ghana Embassy and I was informed that the expedited visa service takes 7 days. It goes without saying that panic set in! My travel companion and I scrambled to look for options to secure a visa for me. We called the Tour Radar customer service and they stated they could not help me; at this point I started to feel hopeless and thought I would have to cancel my trip. After seemingly exhausting all of my options we were about to give up but I decided to Google the Olives Travel and Tours to see if I could find a phone number and call them directly. At 9:00pm, 2 days before our departure I found a phone number and on a whim called the number. My call was immediately answered immediately by the owner himself, Prince Hart Adams. In my haste I forgot that it was 3:00am local in Ghana but despite this fact he was so gracious and committed to secure a visa-on-arrival which would allow my to travel and obtain the visa on Ghana instead of waiting for the long process of getting it beforehand. I must admit I was still nervous about securing the visa because we were cutting things so close. Prince assured me that it would be taken care of and he encouraged me to get my bags together for the trip. Being a man of his word, he secured the visa on arrival document and sent it to me in pdf just in the nick of time! Prince saved the day and salvaged my trip! In terms of the tour itself, it exceeded my expectations and I must admit it was the best tour of my life. Olive Tours does a great job of ensuring that you get a good variety of rich cultural experiences without having a super regimented schedule. I highly recommend Olive Travel and Tours. I can’t wait to book with them again!

I would highly recommend utilizing this tour company if visiting Ghana and Cape Coast. The tour guide Innocent was extremely knowledgeable and kept me informed on each days excursion.
What our customers ask about Ghana Small Group Tours
What is the ideal small group size for exploring Ghana's cultural sites?
The most effective group size for exploring Ghana ranges from 8-12 travelers providing space for genuine cultural encounters. At sites like Elmina Castle and the Manhyia Palace Museum in Kumasi visitors can engage more deeply with local history. Companies like Landtours Ghana maintain these smaller numbers to give travelers better access to significant locations such as Cape Coast Castle and W.E.B. Dubois Center. A TourRadar traveler shared "the small group size allowed for more meaningful interactions with local communities during village naming ceremonies and traditional craft demonstrations in places like Bonwire known for Kente weaving."
What unique experiences are available on small group tours in Ghana?
Ghana's small group tours open doors to distinctive cultural moments including village naming ceremonies direct access to the Ashanti King's Palace in Kumasi and workshops with local artisans in Ahwiaa woodcarving village. Accommodations like the African Regent Hotel in Accra and Coconut Grove Beach Resort in Elmina provide focused attention to smaller groups. A TourRadar traveler noted "Our intimate group size allowed us to have meaningful conversations with local chiefs and participate in traditional ceremonies that wouldn't be possible with larger groups."
How does the small group experience enhance wildlife viewing in Ghana's national parks?
In locations like Mole National Park smaller groups create less disruption making it easier to spot elephants baboons and the park's 316 bird species. The quieter atmosphere leads to closer encounters with wildlife. Properties like Mole Motel serve as excellent observation points. One TourRadar traveler confirmed this saying "We saw many animals including elephants and enjoyed a wide range of activities from a canoe ride to visiting the eco-village."
What transportation is typically used for small group tours in Ghana?
Transportation for small groups in Ghana centers on air-conditioned minibuses or vans that can easily travel between major sites like Elmina Castle and Kakum National Park. These vehicles can reach remote areas and cultural locations that larger tours cannot access such as the craft communities of Bonwire and Ahwiaa. A TourRadar traveler noted "Our private van allowed us to make spontaneous stops at local markets and photo opportunities that wouldn't be possible with a large tour bus."
How does the pricing compare between small group and large group tours in Ghana?
Small group tours in Ghana cost between USD 250-400 daily while larger groups typically pay USD 150-200. The higher rates include benefits such as stays at quality hotels like Lancaster Kumasi Hotel and dedicated access to attractions like Kakum National Park's canopy walkway. A TourRadar traveler reflected "the higher price point was worth it for the intimate experience and personal attention we received throughout the journey."
What is the typical demographic on small group tours in Ghana?
The demographic makeup of Ghana's small group tours shows a mix of independent travelers and couples between 30-65 years old with women making up about 60% of participants. These groups often stay at properties like Maaha Beach Resort and African Regent Hotel. TourRadar data indicates solo travelers represent 67% of bookings with couples filling the remaining 33%. One traveler noted "The small group dynamic created lasting friendships as we explored Ghana's cultural heritage together."
