- Day 1
Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
You'll head to Kathmandu domestic airport early for a 35-minute flight to Lukla at 2,800m. Once you land and meet your guides, there's time to walk around Lukla while the Sherpa team gets the loads organized. Lunch happens either in town or on the trail, then you'll trek gradually downhill for about 2.5 to 3 hours toward Phakding (2,652m). The route follows the Dudh-Kosi River, crosses a suspension bridge, and passes through Ghat village along the way.

Phakding to Namche Bazaar
From Phakding, you have a 5 to 6 hour trek ahead with rolling terrain alongside the Dudh-Kosi River. You'll cross another suspension bridge and pass through Monjo at the Sagarmatha National Park entrance, then continue to Jorsalle, which is the last stop for supplies before Namche. After crossing the Imjatse river bridge, the trail gets steeper with winding switchbacks that offer views of Kwangde, Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Taweche. You arrive at Namche Bazaar (3,440m), a colorful market village nestled in an amphitheater-shaped valley.

Namche Bazaar
Today's a rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization. A short walk uphill takes you to the Sagarmatha National Park Headquarters, which sits at Namche's top ridge with views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks and valleys. The headquarters has a museum covering Himalayan history, geography, culture, mountaineering, and local plants and animals. In the afternoon, you're free to wander through the colorful market town and check out local shops.

Namche Bazaar to Tengboche
You'll trek for about 5 hours starting with easier walking, including a 20-minute climb to Namche's upper ridge. After that, the trail becomes more scenic with Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thermasharkhu, and Kwangde-ri coming into view. Following a 2 to 3 hour pleasant walk, you reach Phungitenga (3,250m), a small settlement with teahouses. From there, the final stretch climbs steeply through alpine forests of silver fir, blue pine, rhododendron, magnolia, and birch to Tengboche Monastery (3,867m), where Ama Dablam dominates the view with Everest looming behind the Nuptse wall.

Tengboche to Dingboche
You have a 5 to 6 hour trek through forests of birch, fir, juniper, and rhododendron. From Tengboche, you'll descend to Deoboche (3,650m) with views of Ama Dablam, Everest, Nuptse, and Lhotse. The trail passes a long prayer mani wall and crosses the Imja-Tse river bridge, then climbs gradually to Pangboche (3,900m). Lunch stops at Shomare where you get close-up views of Ama-Dablam. From there, the trail continues east beneath Ama Dablam's north face, climbing slowly past a large mani stupa and into the Imja Tse Valley. You'll see Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Island Peak (6,189m) before reaching Dingboche, a settlement with distinctive stone-walled fields.

Dingboche
This is a leisure day with optional short hikes around Dingboche. If you choose to trek to Chhukhung (4,730m), it takes 3 to 4 hours heading east into the Imja Tse Valley. The trek is gradual but you'll feel the altitude effects as you climb slowly toward Chhukhung, the last settlement in eastern Khumbu. About five teahouses there overlook views of Lhotse, Ama-Dablam, and Imja glacier.

Dingboche to Lobuche
You'll trek north from Dingboche for about 5 hours, starting with gradual uphill for 40 to 50 minutes to a mani prayer stupa, then gentle walking across hard meadows showing Mt. Tawache, Ama Dablam, Pokalde, Kongma-tse, and the great Nuptse wall. After 1.5 to 2 hours, you meet the trail from Pheriche near Thugla, then tackle an hour of steep climbing with views of Mt. Pumori and memorial stones for climbers lost in regional expeditions. Another 1.5 to 2 hours of gradual ascent brings you to Lobuche (4,928m), a sheltered spot with 5 to 6 teahouses.

Lobuche to Everest Base Camp to Gorakshep
The final push toward Mount Everest starts with a gradual uphill walk through a grassy valley for the first hour, then a steep 20-minute climb followed by a rocky moraine path with icy-glacial ponds and icebergs visible below on the Khumbu glacier. After the final moraine dunes, a short downhill brings you to Gorakshep (5,160m) on a flat field with teahouses. From there, you continue to Everest Base Camp (5,357m) following rocky dunes and moraine (the trail shifts yearly due to glacier movement). The walk is strenuous due to high altitude, but you're rewarded with views of the Khumbu icefall. After exploring, you trek back to Gorakshep for the overnight.

Gorakshep to Kalapathar to Pheriche
Early morning you'll make a steep walk to Kalapatthar (5,545m), a small rocky peak on Mt. Pumori's southwest ridge where Everest appears extremely close between Nuptse and Lhotse, with Everest Base Camp visible far below on the Khumbu glacier moraine. After taking in this perspective, you descend back to Gorakshep and continue a 5 to 6 hour downhill trek to Pheriche (4,243m). The route passes through Thugla where the Dingboche trail branches off, then continues downhill into the flat Pheriche Valley (which can be very windy in the afternoon).

Pheriche to Tengboche
From Pheriche, you have a 5 hour trek that's mostly downhill after crossing a bridge, with a few gentle climbs in between through Pangboche. You'll continue into a wooded area with restored vegetation, then climb steeply uphill for an hour to reach Tengboche. The descent afterward is a pleasant downhill return to lower elevations with occasional gentle climbs mixed in.

Tengboche to Monjo
You'll retrace your route back toward Namche, taking 5 to 6 hours. The trail leads to Shanasha where paths from Khumjung and Gokyo meet the main route. From there, you follow the busy main path winding downhill and on gentle slopes all the way back to Namche Bazaar, then continue downhill to Monjo (2,835m) for an overnight near the Sagarmatha National Park entrance and exit.

Monjo to Lukla
Your final 5 hour trek of this adventure involves leisurely walking and enjoying the lush green scenery around you. After several short uphills, you'll face one long climb of about 45 minutes just before Lukla, approaching from a place called Choplung or the old big oak tree. On reaching Lukla, there's a final celebration dinner and party with your Sherpa guides, porters, and fellow trekking members.

Landmarks/POIs Choplung Lukla - Day 13
Lukla to Kathmandu
You'll fly back to Kathmandu in about 35 minutes on your final day. The flight is typically scheduled for the morning to avoid afternoon wind issues, though weather delays can happen. During the flight, you'll see panoramic views of snow-capped peaks. Once you arrive at Kathmandu domestic terminal, BUNA staff will receive you and arrange your transfer back to your hotel.
