Not given the VIP Luxury Gold package. Hotels and meals were not the Authentic Italian cuisine we were expecting. Advertised as providing guests with incredible once in a life time experience. We did not get what we paid for. We were grouped more than once with a much larger group. Dining and accommodations were crowed. This was our third trip with Insight and it will be our last.

The first hotel in Rome Romanico Palace Hotel was a dump, dirty and dingy. When arriving in Rome after a long plane ride, I would have expected a nicer hotel for the money we paid. Also, we paid a premium for a small group (20 people) but ended up with the larger group (60 people) on several occasions such as breakfast in two hotels that was chaos BTW and some tours. When we pay extra to be in a smaller group, I expect that this would be honoured by Insight. We were disappointed and didn’t get what we paid for.

The quality of the hotels could have been better. They were clean but very outdated. Especially for the price paid. Very poor quality city tours in each location with minimal information on things to do with our free time. Did not know about the optional excursions until a couple of weeks before the trip which were of course more money. Our travel agent never informed us of this. I believe that for the money paid it should have been a better quality tour.

I'd give 6 stars if I could ! It was a trip of a lifetime..we were so excited about the iconic sights we saw and had forgotten about other wonderful events and locations; as the tour around Capri; the inside Venice tour etc. The driving was excellent and the tour guide Elena was wonderful....we will cherish the memory forever !!

We absolutely LOVED our tour with Insights Vacation and would highly recommend it! Our tour began in Rome where we meet Caroline (our tour guide) and Antonio ( our bus driver) as well as our fellow travelers. It was a wonderful tour, so fun and so many amazing things to see. Yes there was a lot of walking but we expected that and started walking at home months before we left. So the walking was no problem for us, plus you must walk to see the sights, so worth it. Yes they do charge extra for extra excursions, we didn’t mind this as we wanted to get the most from this trip. Just a little side note: you could be standing in one location in the city and the tour guide would walk you around the block, where much to your amazement is a massive church or other historical sight. If you didn’t know to look for this, if it wasn’t on your radar, you would not have known it was there. That was why having the Tours and tour guide’s was worth the extra cost. Also not everyone did every tour, several went out on their own to explore or do what they wanted to do. We loved the tour guides as they were so knowledgeable and nice, and most times funny as well. Also for us, not having to mess with maps and taxi’s and finding what we were looking for was another big plus of being on the tour. Each morning we awoke, knowing this is where we are going, this is what we will be seeing and this is what we will be doing, this is where we stay, where we eat, it was all laid out for us.

Can we stay in one room or what do you recommend? Do we need winter clothing in November or sweater/pullover ok?

    • Insight VacationsOperatorWritten July 2025

A triple room option is available for the November 6th departure. Regarding winter clothing for Italy in November, a sweater or pullover should be perfectly fine for most days, especially in central and southern parts of Italy. However, we also recommend packing a light jacket or layerable outerwear just in case temperatures drop, especially in the mornings and evenings.

What is a triple room? Two twin beds? Or three single beds? Or some combination? Would it be less expensive just to get two rooms and my father in law has his own room?

    • Insight VacationsOperatorWritten July 2025

A triple room can either be one double room and a single room, or three individual rooms. If you're looking for more space and privacy, then yes — taking a single room is the best option. The price for the person opting for a single room is $5,855.

    • Insight VacationsOperatorWritten August 2023

Coaches have limited space for wheelchairs. Only one non-motorized, fully collapsible wheelchair is allowed per trip. A traveling companion must assist with wheelchair loading and movement. European cities, especially Italy, may have challenging terrain with cobblestone streets and difficult navigation. Venice particularly has narrow alleys and bridges that make wheelchair movement difficult. Gondolas cannot accommodate wheelchairs.
