Itinerary
- Day 1
Kathmandu
You'll land at Tribhuwan International Airport and get picked up by your Nepal Trekking Planner representative. After settling into your hotel, the afternoon is yours to do as you like. Walk around the nearby Thamel area if you're not too tired, or just rest at the hotel. Grab dinner at a local restaurant and get some sleep before the trek starts.

Kathmandu
Your day focuses on Kathmandu's history with a guided tour hitting the main sites. You'll see Pashupatinath Temple along the Bagmati River, then head to the Monkey Temple (Swayambhunath) and Boudhanath Stupa, both UNESCO sites. After that, wander through the ancient royal palace and courtyard in Patan with its Krishna Temple and museum. Later in the afternoon, you'll meet your trekking guide who'll go over what to expect on the trail ahead. Sleep in Kathmandu.

Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
An early flight takes you from Kathmandu to Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla, with nice views of the Himalayas on the way. Once you land, trekking begins through green valleys and alongside the Dudh-Koshi River. You'll pass through Ghat, cross a suspension bridge with Kusum-Kangru peak visible, and arrive in Phakding village by evening. Stay the night right on the riverbank.

Phakding to Namche Bazaar
After breakfast, trek along the Milk River by way of suspension bridges, climbing through Banker (2700m), Chumoa, and Monju where you'll handle permit registration for Everest National Park. From there, pass Jorsale and cross another high suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi. The next two and a half hours involve steady climbing to reach Namche Bazaar, where you'll stay for the night.

Namche Bazaar
Today is about letting your body adjust to the altitude with easy walks around Namche Bazaar. Hike uphill to Sagarmatha National Park Headquarters to see the museum with local history and nature information. Continue higher to Syangboche and Everest View Hotel for views of Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Mount Everest, Nuptse and the surrounding peaks. Head back down to Namche Bazaar for the night.

Namche Bazaar to Tashinga
Leave Namche Bazaar after breakfast and follow the main Everest approach with mountain views around you the whole way. The trail stays mostly level and winds through the landscape for about 4 hours until you reach Tashinga. The lodge is just 15 minutes further, so you'll arrive with plenty of daylight to settle in.

Tashinga to Tengboche to Tashinga
Start early and head out from Tashinga toward Tengboche for views of Mount Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and several other peaks. The first part to Phunki takes about three hours and stays fairly easy. Then comes a three-hour steep section through rhododendron and pine forest. The path mellows out as you approach Tengboche Monastery, one of the region's largest and oldest. You'll have lunch there, then walk back to Tashinga for the night.

Tashinga to Mende
After eating, leave Tashinga and backtrack to Sanasa before heading up into Khumjung, the education center of Khumbu. Stop at Khumjung Monastery and Khunde Hospital if time allows. From there, trek above Namche Bazaar through Syangboche Airport and beautiful valley forest where you might see pheasants and other wildlife. The final push to Mende is tough but your acclimatization helps. Stay overnight in Mende.

Mende to Thame to Mende
Take a day hike to Thame using an old Tibetan trade route. Bring water, a camera, and layers since it gets cold up here. The path is wide and well-marked, making it mostly easy going to Thame Village, one of the nicest settlements in Khumbu. Spend time at Thame Monastery and explore the village where many of Nepal's well-known climbers come from. Have lunch, then walk back to Mende for the night.

Mende to Namche Bazaar to Monjo
This trek is moderate level. Start by walking fifteen minutes uphill to Laudo Monastery from Mende, where the main temple was built just forty years ago with a remarkable meditation room carved behind a huge rock. Trek through Phungi Thanga with some climbing before reaching Namche Bazaar for lunch. Then continue descending all the way to Monjo on the same route, being careful on the steep downhill parts.

Monjo to Lukla
Your last trekking day goes from Monjo back to Lukla, descending through small villages along the Dudh Koshi River. It's a moderate trek with nice village scenery as altitude drops and you see more settlements and activity. Climb the final hill from Chauri Kharka to reach Lukla. Spend your evening here and contact your airline office to confirm tomorrow's flight.

Lukla to Kathmandu
Weather permitting, catch an early flight back to Kathmandu, which takes about 35 minutes. The timing helps avoid afternoon weather problems. You'll get aerial views of mountains, valleys, rivers with curves, and terraced fields from your seat. After landing, a driver takes you to your Kathmandu hotel for the night.

Kathmandu
You have this day free to rest and do whatever you want. Wander the cobbled streets in Thamel and Ason if you have energy, or check out Basantapur Durbar Square for classic monuments. Shop for souvenirs in nearby areas or just stay at the hotel and recover. The choice is yours as you spend the night in Kathmandu.

This marks the end of your trek to Nepal's lower Everest region and remote eastern areas. Your Nepal Trekking Planner representative will pick you up at least three hours before your flight and drive you to Tribhuwan International Airport. Take time to remember the past two weeks trekking with your team, then head out on your next adventure. Safe travels.
