What people love about touring Canadian Rockies solo
- 4-Day Rockies Winter Explorer Tour
All and all trip was good it is a very busy go go not a lot of time at all the places we stop but your get a good “appetizer” of the many things to do in these areas. Food options are not great if you’re a foodie. Most places we stop for food don’t have nice restaurants to eat at. But if you’re just really wanting to see the towns and the Rockies tons of great views just wish we had a little more time in some places. Please continue reading for my tips to future travelers. Things I think would be important things to add for type a personalities or big time planner or even people that need to budget their meals ect would be : - [ ] Hotels we stay at so food options could be researched (towns didn’t help me as much as I had hoped Lyft and Uber was near impossible to get) - [ ] Additional excursions offered at stops and their prices (like the ice skating sleigh rides ect.) - [ ] Approximated time in specific areas to help those that want to make reservations for other experiences or dinners ect - [ ] I had to specifically ask about additional excursions after booking to be sent to me. - [ ] Huge confusion between west trek tours and discover Canada tours didn’t know who to even reach out to - [ ] Typical Drive time between places and putting on list of things to bring such as snacks and waters ect - [ ] Other items to suggest to bring cough drops for dry air, tissues for runny nose, chapstick for cracked lips and lotion for cracked hands. Below are some things I would correct on the tour information so others don’t get disappointed. Check into the hotel in Vernon and make your way to SilverStar Mountain Resort for FREE snow tubing & ice skating SHOULD SAY “OR” Upon return to the hotel, option to go to the adjoining casino SHOULD SAY ACROSS STREET or pub (19+ only) or relax in the hotel pool and hot tub after an active day outside Day 2: Vernon to Banff Breakfast (included) After breakfast depart hotel Drive through the beautiful snow-capped peaks of Mount Revelstoke National Park & Glacier National Park Visit Roger's Pass National Historic Site Arrive at the world renowned Lake Louise and visit Chateau Lake Louise with the option to go ice skating, play hockey or go on a sleigh ride! (seasonal) SHOULD NOT OFFER IF NOT ALWAYS ABLE TO DO OR PUT MORE STIPULATIONS Drive to Banff and enjoy a city tour including Banff Springs Hotel, Bow Falls, Surprise Corner, and Banff Ave. SHOULD SAY VISIT ONE OF THESE OR BE MORE SPECIFIC Check into your centrally located Banff hotel Evening - Free time to go shopping on Banff Avenue or join your guide for a night of dancing Day 3: Banff to Golden Breakfast (included) Option to go on the Banff Gondola Skiers and Snowboarders depart for Lake Louise Mountain Resort. There is also the option for non-skiers to take the Lake Louise Sightseeing Gondola for amazing views of the surrounding mountains. AGAIN ONLY OFFER IF POSSIBLE OR PUT TO NOTIFY AHEAD TO COORDINATE ECT For those not skiing/snowboarding, check out of the hotel and enjoy free time to explore the town of Banff. You also have the option to participate in another exciting winter activity like dog mushing, snowshoeing, ice walking, and more! WHAT IS MORE AND DOG MUSHING WASN’T MENTIONED
- Explore the Canadian Rockies in 5 Days: Banff, Jasper & Yoho National Parks Tour
Dear Sir / Madam, Generally the tour was fine, however I have the following points of concern. 1. The driver did not stop at the Spiral Tunnel and just commented as we passed by. (There were several other tours who had stopped there.) 2. I had opted out of the Daily Driver/Guide Gratuity as I believed that to be optional and up to my discretion. However on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the Tour Guide made it very clear that he demanded C$20 per day being C$10 for the drive and C$10 for himself and it was not optional. In fact he took the money as he was handing out the key for the hotel rooms each evening!! On the Friday tour the driver/guide was clear that it was optional. I feel if the gratuity is compulsory it should be included in the package price. This did have the effect of impacting my good feeling on the trip. 3. The last point and one of constructive criticism is I had asked when the tour would get back to Calgary on the Friday and was advised that it would be 8:30 to 9:00pm which meant that I would not catch my flight so I booked a hotel room thru yourselves. In fact we arrived around 6:00 to 6:30pm so I could have in fact managed to catch my flight to Winnipeg, thereby saving the cost of the hotel for the night. Kind Regards Edwin Petrie
- 9 Day Rockies Hiking and Camping Tour
Alex was a wonderful guide and host on the 9 day hike through the Rockies. He is friendly, knowledgeable about the places we hiked through and very accommodating to his guests needs. I cannot emphasise enough the quality and variety of the food provided, ranging from blueberry pancake breakfasts and cheese fondue lunches to chargrilled steak and fish taco dinners. It truly made the trip all the more special and unique to Fresh Adventures. The tent, sleep mat and sleeping bag provided served me well, keeping me warm and dry through some inclement weather. Be prepared to pitch in by putting up and taking down your tent and gear. You'll reach grandmaster level after 8 nights. The hikes we went on varied from reasonably gentle to challenging, depending on your fitness level. For the more challenging hikes, Alex provided options for those who didn't feel up to it. The other activities on offer, such as horse riding and a stroll around Jasper also added variety to the trip. If you're looking for a hiking/camping trip with a difference, Fresh Adventures is a safe bet. Thanks for a great experience Alex!
