What people love about touring Canadian Rockies solo
- 12 Day Rockies Hiking and Camping Tour
Overall, trip was good. It was a bit intense at times with the amount and length of hikes....not an issue itself, but we were not encouraged to stop and take photos - or we wouldn't reach our destination in time! A bit of an issue because, afterall, some of us might never see these views again. The itinerary changed considerably from the original reservation and we were not notified of this until a few days before the trip - should have known well ahead, giving us the option of choice, for ex, some of us might have counted on going to Jasper or taking the gondola - which was all on the original itinerary. Hiking boots are definitely required, although the departure info stated they were not. Itinerary said even beginners could do this trip - definitely not true. I am 73yrs old hiker and managed to do the hikes, but beginners certainly could not. It's unfair to advertise it in such a manner. The intensity of the hikes was never made clear and the original info gave the indication that we would see the major sites with a fair balance between hiking and down time. Some of these are administrative issues. The leaders were wonderful overall - but a bit intense at times. Felt a little like bootcamp! Those are my reasons for giving a "good" rating.
- 5-Day Canadian Rockies Adventure: Banff, Jasper & Yoho National Parks Tour
Dear Sir / Madam, Generally the tour was fine, however I have the following points of concern. 1. The driver did not stop at the Spiral Tunnel and just commented as we passed by. (There were several other tours who had stopped there.) 2. I had opted out of the Daily Driver/Guide Gratuity as I believed that to be optional and up to my discretion. However on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the Tour Guide made it very clear that he demanded C$20 per day being C$10 for the drive and C$10 for himself and it was not optional. In fact he took the money as he was handing out the key for the hotel rooms each evening!! On the Friday tour the driver/guide was clear that it was optional. I feel if the gratuity is compulsory it should be included in the package price. This did have the effect of impacting my good feeling on the trip. 3. The last point and one of constructive criticism is I had asked when the tour would get back to Calgary on the Friday and was advised that it would be 8:30 to 9:00pm which meant that I would not catch my flight so I booked a hotel room thru yourselves. In fact we arrived around 6:00 to 6:30pm so I could have in fact managed to catch my flight to Winnipeg, thereby saving the cost of the hotel for the night. Kind Regards Edwin Petrie
- 9 Day Rockies Hiking and Camping Tour
it was an amazing experience. Then guides were great and really looked after us. The hikes were varied and each one offered something different. I am a vegetarian and the food was excellent. I will definitely return using this tour company.
