What people love about touring Namibia solo
- Classic Namibia 12 Days DEPARTING SATURDAYS **Sustainable Approach to Travel
Our 12‑day Namibia Classic Camping Safari with World Adventure Tours was an incredible blend of breathtaking landscapes and easygoing companionship. We journeyed from the wildlife-rich north through Mt. Etjo, Okonjati Reserve, and the magical nighttime wildlife watching at Etosha’s Okaukuejo waterhole, down to the dramatic Skeleton Coast, dunes of Sossusvlei, haunting Kolmanskop, and finally to the vast expanse of Fish River Canyon and the quiver tree forest. We experienced so much of this beautiful, diverse country. What made the trip truly special were the people. Erastus guided us with quiet confidence and personal insights. He made sure we kept to our schedule while also giving us opportunities for spontaneous moments and unforgettable photo opportunities. And Bronie, our assistant and chef, kept us grounded and content with delicious meals and great humor. Plus, our fellow travelers—laughing over the bumpy roads of the game drives, helping each other put up our tents, singing by the campfire, watching the meteorite shower together on a dark night at our campsite—turned the journey into a shared adventure rather than just a tour. I highly recommend this tour!
- Journeys: Wonders of Namibia National Geographic Journeys
Beautiful country. Tour hits all the most known places. Roads aren't great so the long hours in the bus got tiring. Guide good at planning frequent stops.
- Namibia Lodge Safari
Very well organized tour, small group, we were lucky with 2 guides, saw lots of places, animals and everything that was there to be seen. Namibia incredible country. As a recommendation- 2 or 3 days more would have been ideal. Swakopmund has lots of activities and shops (this should be visited not on a weekend as everything shuts at 5pm) and the waterberg plateau also has so much more activities to do. And possibly 1 day just to relax as the drives of 500+ km per day are exhausting. But overall great experience
What our customers ask about Namibia Tours for Solo Travelers
Is Namibia suitable for solo travelers looking to join guided tours?
Solo travelers make up nearly half of all tour bookings in Namibia. The country offers many options for singles seeking guided experiences. Places like Toshari Lodge near Etosha and Hotel A La Mer in Swakopmund regularly welcome independent travelers. One TourRadar traveler noted: "We had a great time with a mix of solo travelers and couples making it easy to connect with others while exploring incredible places like Sossusvlei and Etosha."
What are the safest areas in Namibia for solo travelers on guided tours?
The main tourist routes through Etosha National Park Swakopmund and Sossusvlei have strong safety records for guided tours. Well-established properties like the Strand Hotel and Namib Desert Lodge provide round-the-clock security. According to a TourRadar traveler: "I felt completely safe throughout the entire journey especially with our knowledgeable guide Shawn who took great care of everyone in the group."
Do guided tours in Namibia cater to different age groups of solo travelers?
Tours welcome participants from ages 25 to 70 creating diverse groups that explore sites like Etosha and Sossusvlei. Activities adapt to various fitness levels so everyone can participate comfortably. A TourRadar traveler shares: "At 58 I was worried about being the oldest but our group had a great mix of ages and everyone got along wonderfully while exploring Twyfelfontein and the Skeleton Coast."
How easy is it to meet other travelers during meal times on Namibia tours?
Shared meals bring tour groups together at venues like Toshari Lodge and Namib Desert Lodge. The schedule includes group dinners and traditional braais (barbecues) that encourage conversation. One TourRadar traveler reports: "The group dinners at Halali Camp were highlights - sharing stories about our Etosha wildlife sightings while enjoying local cuisine really brought us together."
What transportation arrangements are made for solo travelers?
Accommodations range from city hotels to safari camps. In Swakopmund travelers stay at central spots like The Delight Hotel while Etosha offers lodges such as Okaukuejo Camp known for its floodlit waterhole. A TourRadar traveler confirms: "The accommodations were very nice and the Halali lodge in Etosha was exceptional with great wildlife viewing at the waterhole."
What's the best time of year for solo travelers to visit Namibia?
Winter months from May to October bring mild weather and peak wildlife viewing in Etosha. Summer (November-April) offers quieter parks but higher temperatures. As one TourRadar traveler suggests: "We went in July and the weather was perfect for activities plus the waterholes in Etosha were busy with wildlife which made game viewing excellent."
