- Day 1
Windhoek
You'll arrive in Windhoek and your tour leader meets you at the hotel at 6pm for a welcome meeting with optional dinner afterward. If you get there earlier in the day, the National Museum is worth a look, or you could do a half-day Katatura Township tour to get a feel for local life right away.

Windhoek to Sesriem
This morning you'll drive south-west from Windhoek toward Sesriem, heading into the Namib Desert at the edge of Namib-Naukluft National Park. The route takes you through one of Earth's oldest deserts, and you'll start seeing unique desert plants and wildlife as you go.

Sossusvlei and Sesriem Canyon
Early morning you're in the park heading down Tsauchab Valley to Sossusvlei, where massive red sand dunes tower about 300 meters high. The sunrise hits them with an orange glow that's really something. Later in the day you'll walk through Sesriem Canyon on foot, where water pools sit in cool passages and attract birds and animals.

Sesriem to Swakopmund
After leaving the dunes, you'll travel through Solitaire and Kuiseb Canyon across gravel flats to Walvis Bay. There you'll see the deep-sea harbor and spot flamingos and pelicans before heading to Swakopmund, the coastal town where you'll stay.

Swakopmund
You've got time to walk around Swakopmund and check out its German colonial buildings and former port history. The local museum is good, or there are township visits and various activities available. By evening you'll head to the coastal dune belt to watch the sunset over the water.

Cape Cross Seal Colony and Brandberg Rock Art
Heading north along the coast you'll reach Cape Cross Seal Colony where 80,000 to 100,000 Cape fur seals gather in the water and on shore. Then you'll go inland to Brandberg Mountain, Namibia's highest peak at 2,573 meters, to see San Bushman rock paintings. The walk to the paintings takes about an hour over mostly flat rocky ground.

Damaraland to Etosha National Park
You'll drive north toward Etosha National Park, passing through Damaraland and stopping in local villages along the way. Etosha itself covers over 12,400 square miles and holds 114 animal species including lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and black rhinos.

Etosha Game Drive
Early morning game drive through Etosha follows gravel roads to viewpoints and waterholes where animals congregate. The landscape shifts from dense bush to open plains. You'll have chances to see over 340 bird species including weaverbirds, bee-eaters, hornbills, ostriches, and the kori bustard.

Etosha Game Drives
More game drives take you to various waterholes and underground springs throughout the park where you'll find large herds of springboks, zebras, wildebeest, and giraffes. The highlight is the Etosha Pan at the park's center, a flat silvery depression formed 12 million years ago from an ancient inland lake.

Etosha to Otjiwa
Leaving Etosha you'll stop at the Cheetah Conservation Foundation visitor center near Otjiwarongo to learn about their research and conservation work. After that you'll continue to your lodge in Otjiwa, one of Namibia's oldest game lodges where impalas, kudu, and warthogs move around the bushland grounds.

Otjiwa to Windhoek
This morning offers walking trails or an optional game drive at the lodge. Then you'll head south back to Windhoek, stopping in Okhandja to browse the local craft market before continuing into the capital.

Windhoek Departure
After breakfast in Windhoek your tour finishes up. Depending on when your flight leaves, you can spend a few hours exploring town or use the hotel's luggage storage. You'll then head to Hosea Kutako International Airport anytime that works for your departure.
