What people love about touring Ghana solo
- Educational Tour of Ghana (A Journey Through History and Culture)
The Ghana Educational tour was the best vacation I have ever had. Our tour guide Prince made the custom experience unforgettable. He and our driver, David were so hospitable to our group and felt like family! Our group learned so much and enjoyed every moment. I will definitely use Olives Travels and Tour for all of my future travels in West Africa! ❤️❤️
- December In Ghana : AfroFuture Festival alongside Safari
From beginning to end this trip was absolutely amazing. The Highlights were the New Years Party at the Polo Beach Club, Zaina Lodge and the Naming Ceremony. I laughed, cried, met the cheif of a village and danced untill I was sore all over. For my first time in Ghana, I feel like I got to see and do so much because the tour was so well organized and paced. Our guide has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to his country and I enjoyed everything I learned. The ony thing that docked a star was the hotel we stayed at for the bulk of our visit. I enjoyed staying in East Legon it was a really cool neighborhood The staff was amazing and incredibly friendly and accomodating however, the state of the hotel was severely lacking. Other than that I wouldn't change a single thing. We are definitely coming back this year and can't wait to see what other offerings Olives has for us.
- Let's Explore Ghana
I recently enjoyed a 10-day adventure through Ghana with Pro Tour Africa, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From start to finish, this journey was a thoughtful blend of carefully curated experiences like the bead factory or monkey sanctuary, warm hospitality, and a deep dive into Ghana’s landscape, culture and history. The itinerary offered a diverse range of activities and perspectives that allowed me to truly discover the beauty of Ghana. Zainab, our guide, whose passion for Ghana was infectious. Even after the tour concluded, she remained available to provide tips and recommendations, enriching my extended stay in Ghana. Our driver, mr Elliots, knew the roads like the back of his hand, skillfully avoiding bumps. His driving not only ensured our safety but also enhanced the overall comfort of the journey. Both their extensive knowledge, enthusiasm, and genuine love for the country really made the trip special. They shared facts, fun stories, personal anecdotes, all giving me a deeper understanding of Ghana's culture and history. I can't wait to return and explore more of this incredible country. I'll definitely choose Pro Tour Africa again.
What our customers ask about Ghana Tours for Solo Travelers
What's the typical group size for Ghana guided tours?
Tours in Ghana keep groups between 8-15 people which lets travelers get to know each other while exploring. Cultural visits to places like Cape Coast Castle and Kakum National Park work well with these smaller numbers because guides can give everyone proper attention. A TourRadar traveler noted: "Our small group size made it easy to interact with locals and really experience Ghanaian culture."
Which cities in Ghana are most welcoming for solo travelers on guided tours?
Three cities stand out for solo travel: Accra Cape Coast and Kumasi. Accra's main draws include the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and National Museum which are both easy to navigate with a guide. Cape Coast brings history to life at its castle and bustling fishing harbor. In Kumasi you can learn about Ashanti culture at the Manhyia Palace Museum. Many solo travelers choose to stay at places like the Lancaster Accra Hotel or Golden Bean Hotel in Kumasi where meeting other tourists comes naturally.
When is the best time for solo travelers to join a Ghana tour?
Ghana stands as one of West Africa's safer destinations for guided tours. Your guide will be with the group at major attractions including Cape Coast Castle and Kejetia Market. Hotels like the Golden Tulip in Accra provide secure places to stay. According to a TourRadar reviewer: "As a solo female traveler I felt completely safe throughout the entire tour thanks to our knowledgeable guide and well-organized itinerary."
Do I need to pay a single supplement on Ghana tours?
Private rooms on Ghana tours usually come with an extra charge. Places like the Golden Tulip in Accra and Coconut Grove Beach Resort in Cape Coast add fees for single rooms. Some tour companies help you avoid this cost by matching you with another solo traveler. As one TourRadar guest said: "I opted to share a room on my Ghana tour and was paired with another solo female traveler - it worked out great and saved money."
How much free time do solo travelers get on Ghana guided tours?
Tours balance structured visits to places like Elmina Castle and Kakum National Park with about 2-3 hours of free time each day especially in Accra and Kumasi. During these breaks you can check out local markets relax at your hotel like the Coconut Grove Beach Resort or join other travelers for extra activities. A TourRadar reviewer noted: "The balance between guided activities and free time was perfect - I had enough time to both socialize with the group and explore on my own."
