What people love about touring Spain, Portugal And Morocco solo
- Spain, Morocco and Portugal
Had a great trip. Thanks so much
- Spain, Portugal & Morocco
Pro: this road trip covers many towns and cities, have general idea of what the regions look like, the terrains and climate. Also get a sense of history of those cities, towns and regions. Very informative trip. Tour director Julien is good and funny, did good job to keep the group safe and sound. And included dinners are pretty decent. Con: Wi Fi sucks in most of hotels, hotels are often filled with different groups arriving at same time, and having breakfast together is like a battle, often running out of food in busy hotels. During the tours, we often have to rush and we only got enough free time by ourselves in Seville, Granada and Madrid, which I enjoyed the better than guided tour (very rush) in other towns or cities we just didn't have enough free time to enjoy it, rush rush and rush is the impression of this tour. And spent too long time on guided shopping which are often too expensive. Excursions: value worth optional tours are Flamenco show in Seville, 1001 night in Marrakech and traditional Moroccan night in Fes. In Granada, the Alhambra palace is a miss, the tour to palace is not included. The excursion to Sintra is a miss too. So some regrets in this trip.
What our customers ask about Spain, Portugal and Morocco Tours for Solo Travelers
How social are these tours for solo travelers?
Solo travelers find plenty of natural opportunities to connect with fellow tour members during these multi-country adventures. The group size typically ranges from 20-48 people with about one-third being solo travelers. Social bonds form naturally at hotels like the Silken Al-Andalus Palace in Seville where shared spaces and group meals bring people together. A recent traveler noted "I thoroughly enjoyed exploring with a small intimate group and we became great friends over our three weeks together enjoying diverse meals especially in Morocco."
What's the best time of year for solo travelers to visit these countries?
The peak travel seasons run during spring (March-May) and fall (September-October) when moderate temperatures and smaller crowds create better conditions for exploring. Booking data shows September leads with 25 bookings while May follows with 17 bookings. According to a past guest "Visiting in April was perfect - warm enough for sightseeing but not too hot for walking tours in Seville and Marrakech."
How safe is it to travel solo in these countries, especially Morocco?
These guided tours offer strong safety measures across all three countries. Professional guides stay with the group throughout particularly in busy areas like the Medina of Fez or Marrakech's souks. The tours select secure accommodations such as Les Merinides in Fez. One traveler shared: "As a first-time solo female traveler I felt incredibly secure with our guide's presence in Morocco. Their local knowledge and support made exploring even remote areas feel completely comfortable."
What are the dining arrangements for solo travelers?
The tours include daily breakfasts and several group dinners with 4-5 meals typically included in Morocco often at traditional riads. Hotels like Zalagh Parc Palace in Fez host group dinners that bring travelers together. When meals aren't included guides often arrange optional group dinners or suggest solo-friendly restaurants near hotels like the Hampton by Hilton Barcelona or Roma Lisboa in Lisbon. A recent guest noted: "Meals in Morocco were a highlight particularly group dinners where we could share the day's experiences."
Do I have to pay a single supplement if traveling alone?
Private rooms require single supplements between $450-750 USD at properties like the Melia Granada or Lutecia Lisbon. Some operators including Globus offer room-sharing programs matching solo travelers of the same gender to avoid the extra cost. As one traveler explained "I opted for the room share program and was matched with another solo female traveler - we got along great and saved on costs."
What should solo travelers pack for a multi-country tour through Spain, Portugal and Morocco?
The varied climate calls for adaptable clothing that works for cool Madrid evenings and warm Marrakech days. Key items include walking shoes for Lisbon's cobblestone streets modest clothing for religious sites like Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca and swimwear for beach stops. Hotels such as Zalagh Parc Palace provide basic amenities so focus on versatile clothing. A past guest advised: "I packed light layers and made sure to have clothes that covered shoulders and knees for Morocco - this made me feel comfortable everywhere we went."
