Reviews of 3 day Tours from Bangkok
- River Kwai & Ancient Thai Kingdoms
Loved this part of the tour. We were well looked after, fitted loads in and still had time to relax - Just what I needed as a follow on trip to my main trip.
- North Isaan and the Mekong, Small Group Tour
Excellent tour with two or three wow factor destinations. No spoiler here. Lots of cultural experiences in an area of Thailand which is not known for tourism. Our guide was very good, although a little difficult to understand at times. But somehow we got the gist of it. Vehicle was clean and comfortable and the driver was excellent. Highly recommend this tour, but be prepared for some long distant driving days. That's the norm for doing road trips. Accommodation was good with the highlights being in the mountains one night and on the Mekong River the next.
What our customers ask about Best 3 day Tours from Bangkok
What's the best time of year to take a 3-day tour from Bangkok?
If you're planning a trip from Bangkok, aim for November through February. The weather is perfect then - temperatures stay between 75-85°F (24-29°C), and you won't deal with much rain or humidity. This makes it really comfortable to explore places like the temples in Ayutthaya and River Kwai in Kanchanaburi. Try to avoid March through May when it gets really hot, up to 95°F (35°C). The monsoon season runs from June to October, and the rain can get in the way of outdoor activities, especially if you're planning to visit places like Erawan Waterfalls.
What are the most popular destinations to visit on a 3-day tour from Bangkok?
Most people head to Kanchanaburi, which is about 190km west of Bangkok. There you can see the famous Bridge over River Kwai and Death Railway. Another favorite trip is to Ayutthaya, the old capital city just 80km north of Bangkok, where you can walk through amazing temple ruins that are recognized by UNESCO. If you want to experience traditional Thai farming, you can visit the Royal Project sites in Nakhon Nayok province. Many tours include stays at nice places like the Pung Waan Resort by the Kwai Yai River in Kanchanaburi.
What historical sites can I visit on a 3-day tour from Bangkok?
You'll get to see some really meaningful places including the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, where 6,982 WWII prisoners are remembered, the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, and of course the Bridge over River Kwai. In Ayutthaya, you can explore ancient temples like Wat Phra Si Sanphet and Wat Phra Mahathat - this is where you'll see that famous Buddha head wrapped in tree roots. One traveler told us: "The historical sites were incredible and our guide's knowledge of Thai history made the experience so much more meaningful."
What type of accommodation can I expect on a 3-day tour from Bangkok?
You'll find a good mix of places to stay, from nice 3.5-star hotels up to luxury 5-star spots. Some unique options include safari-style tents at Hintok River Camp along the River Kwai, or floating rooms at River Kwai Jungle Rafts. If you prefer city hotels, you might stay at places like Amari Bangkok Sukhumvit 15. Travelers often mention how much they love Chiangkhan River Resort, especially for its views of the Mekong River. Your stay usually includes breakfast, and some places offer extra touches like traditional shows or dining by the river.
What kind of transportation is provided on 3-day tours from Bangkok?
You'll travel in comfortable, air-conditioned vehicles or minivans for the main journeys. Along the way, you'll also get to try different local ways of getting around. In Kanchanaburi, you might ride in traditional long-tail boats on the river or take a trip on the historic Death Railway train. Sometimes you'll hop in a tuk-tuk to explore cities like Ayutthaya. Travelers mention that the vehicles are modern and comfortable, which is important for longer trips like the 4-hour drive to Kanchanaburi (190km) or the 3.5-hour journey to Nakhon Nayok (195km).
How far in advance should I book a 3-day tour from Bangkok?
Most people book their tours 3-6 months before they plan to travel, especially if they're going between December and March. If you're traveling during busy times or want to stay somewhere special like the River Kwai Jungle Rafts, you'll want to book even earlier. While you can sometimes find last-minute spots, you might not get your first choice of places to stay, like the Amari Bangkok or Chiangkhan River Resort.
