Plan your Plaza Mayor visit for late afternoon when temperatures cool down.
- Days 3-6Cusco & Sacred ValleyYour body will need time to adjust to Cusco's high elevation of 11,152 feet. Schedule your Lima-Cusco flight after 10 AM to avoid morning fog delays. Most visitors experience mild altitude effects. Stick to coca tea and skip alcohol on your first day. A recent visitor shared: "The San Pedro Market was fantastic for trying local foods, but go with small bills - vendors rarely have change for large notes." The Machu Picchu trip starts early at 4:30 AM. Take the Vistadome train from Poroy station, located 40 minutes from Cusco. Book right-side seats on the outbound journey and left-side for the return to get the best views. The Rainbow Mountain hike is challenging at over 16,000 feet. Consider using a horse service if you're still getting used to the altitude.

Start your Christ the Redeemer visit early. The first Corcovado Mountain tram leaves at 8 AM when lines are shorter. Visit Sugarloaf Mountain later in the day to catch the sunset over the bay. A visitor advises: "Take the official yellow taxis or Uber rather than unmarked cabs, and keep valuables at your hotel when heading to the beach." What people love about 10-day Machu Picchu tours
- PERU JEWELS - 10 DAYS (LIMA - CUSCO & PUERTO MALDONADO)We did many cool things in Peru and the communication from Waman was very good throughout. But our busy schedule took its toll, as we were all exhausted by the end. The four of us ended up with some form of salmonella (my mom was the only one hospitalized, but we all had the same symptoms and received treatment accordingly.) The days that start at 4:00 a.m. and end at 11:00 are quite unreasonable - more so than I thought it would be when we read it on paper. My parents are 80 and 83, and just couldn't keep up with the pace. Between running low on energy and dealing with illness, they had to skip several activities. I'm 59 and my son is 39 and WE had a hard time doing all the things. We did love the sights and experiences, i just feel like the Peru Jewels either needs to either cut out one of the three venues, or extend it to a full two weeks. Our guides did a nice job, both those contracted and those hired by Waman. The Amazonia experience was fascinating, but we were unprepared for what to expect. It was extremely hot
- 8-Day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu with Sacred ValleyWe had such an incredible time! Trexperience was truly fantastic. The guides made a world of a difference. They were engaged, caring, knowledgable and accommodating. We even had a big portion of our tour group make last minute changes. Ray (our guide) took on a lot of extra stress in-order to make everything work swimmingly for us. (He coordinated these changes to transportation/accommodation/entry in a heartbeat and with a smile.) On top of everything else; he was instrumental in helping me find the best place at Machu Picchu to pop the question for my now fiance! I can't begin to express how grateful I am. Thank you!
- Cusco & Salkantay Trekking to Machu PicchuGreat company, great guide, great team, and good company. This trek was incredible, I had my concerns but Inkayni Peru made the trek an unforgettable experience. Small group (only three of us). The food was out of this world, 3 course meal, with local foods, as well as, american favorites. Guido is an excellent cook, . The trek itself is unbelievable. Peru is now one of my favorite countries, as the Andes Mountains are one of a kind. The tents were warm, the campsites were picturesque, and the trail was so cool. This was definitely one of the most physically challenging things I've ever done, so be warned. But if you can handle the inclines and steps, this is a must do. I cannot say enough about Inkayni. One of the best characteristics of the company is that they pay their porters well, which is important to me, because these guys make your trip, and they went above and beyond for us. Great company...book these guys if you are doing any Treks to Machupicchu.
