This was my first Explore! Trip and I have to say it was absolutely fantastic! Our guide Shukhrat was amazing! An absolutely brilliant tour leader! He explained everything from the places we were visiting to also multiple options for our free time. If you get Shukhrat on your tour you are very luck and guaranteed to have a fantastic time. The accomptations are lovely I think the best is probably the home stay in Bukhara simply because you get more of a feel of how people live in the area. Also the house is beyond beautiful! The room you have breakfast in is stunning! I do have to say the WiFi is not the best in all the locations you stay however I wasn’t bothered as I was on holiday and it was nice to disconnect. We had a brilliant bus driver, who although did not speak much English was always happy and smiling when we got on and off the bus! The bus was also very clean and well kept. The food in Uzbekistan can be good. I really liked the ‘Manti / Manty’ dish. However a lot of the food is cooked in a lot of oil so it is very greasy just as a warning. However you will not find better bread anywhere! The bread was and is fantastic! We did have some vegetarians on the trip and although being verigartian is not really done in Uzbekistan they still had some lovely meals. Overall I am very glad I went on this trip and I had a brilliant time! If you decide to go I am sure you will too!

The high-speed Afrosiyob trains are really efficient connecting major cities like Tashkent Samarkand and Bukhara you can cover 265 kilometers in just 90 minutes which is pretty impressive. If you're heading somewhere more remote like Nukus in Karakalpakstan domestic flights are your best bet. In the cities themselves you've got plenty of options with shared marshrutkas and regular taxis that won't break the bank.
What Are the Must-Try Local Dishes and Where's the Best Place to Find Them?
The food scene in Uzbekistan is this amazing blend of Central Asian flavors. You absolutely have to try plov it's their national dish made with rice lamb onions and carrots and it's incredible. Head to the Central Asian Plov Center in Tashkent or catch a cooking demo at National House Adras in Samarkand. Don't miss out on shurpa this hearty meat and vegetable soup or manti which are these delicious steamed dumplings. You'll find all of these plus fresh non bread and aromatic green tea in traditional restaurants called chaikhanas they're everywhere and they're the perfect place to experience real Uzbek food.
