What people love about Tanzania And Uganda Tours
- 14 Days Serengeti, Masai Mara & Gorilla Trekking Experience
This 14-day trip with Rumara Safaris was beyond our expectations. Every day is a different experience - first of all enjoying the natural beauty of Arusha National Park. Then I was fascinated by the huge herd of elephants in Tarangire. Coming down to Ngorongoro Crater, it was like seeing so many animals together. The lions and leopards of Masai Mara have brought an absolutely thrilling moment. To see the Great Migration standing in the infinite wilderness of Serengeti is truly an experience of a lifetime. Gorilla trekking at the end of the journey has added a special joy to our journey. Noel took care of us the whole way, and Charity's plan made everything easy and memorable.
- 12 Days Gorillas & The Great Migration and Big Five
I was searching a lot for the kind of trip i wanted to take in Africa after my son had given me a birthday gift i told him I had always wanted a trip to Africa and my choice was Kenya and Uganda where I looked around and found go explore a professional company which helped me plan and gave me a non rushy programme and Brian sent me a very well put together safaris which combined kenyas Masai mara and hells gate and Amboseli i slept at Ol tukai i think its the best lodge in Amboseli I tracked the mountain gorillas in Bwindi and chimps in Kibale and also little did i know of the goldne monkeys in mgahinga Uganda is the most beautiful country you can ever visit the hills and the weather i loved interacting with the locals where I took a canoe boat on lake George by Derick of kasoga the experience was great to thank you Go explore the team did a great job and of course Moses my guide in Uganda had the best knowledge of his country.
- Rainforests and Reefs
The tour was amazing - it covered the three things I wanted to do - gorillas, the Serengeti and rest at the end in Zanzibar. Our tour guide Vee was incredibly patient with my many questions and she was very informative and helpful, as was a truck driver Patrick. The trip was well organised and showed that Absolute Africa were experienced tour operators. I'd love to travel with them again the next time I go to Africa.
What our customers ask about Tanzania and Uganda Tours & Trips
What's the best way to combine Tanzania and Uganda in one trip?
A complete exploration of both countries typically spans 14-28 days with travelers starting in one country and finishing in the other. A practical approach begins with gorilla encounters in Uganda's Bwindi Forest followed by wildlife viewing across Tanzania's northern circuit including the Serengeti and Ngorongoro before relaxing on Zanzibar's beaches. GoExplore Safaris runs an 11-day itinerary that efficiently covers key locations in both nations providing a balanced mix of experiences.
What wildlife can I expect to see in Tanzania and Uganda's national parks?
Tanzania's Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater showcase the Big Five alongside expansive wildebeest and zebra migrations. Uganda's parks specialize in primate encounters particularly mountain gorillas in Bwindi and chimpanzees in Kibale forests. A TourRadar traveler shared "we saw everything from tree-climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park to massive gorilla families in Bwindi - the diversity was incredible."
What kind of accommodation options are available in Tanzania and Uganda?
The accommodation spectrum spans from upscale safari lodges to basic guesthouses with options for every budget. Notable stays include Papyrus Guest House in Entebbe Lake Mulehe Lodge near Bwindi Forest and Kontiki Africa in the Serengeti. As shared by a TourRadar traveler: "The lodges were comfortable and located perfectly for wildlife viewing - we especially loved staying at Fort Murchison Lodge overlooking the Nile."
How much should I budget for permits and entrance fees?
Uganda's gorilla permits cost $800 per trek while Tanzania's park entry fees range from $60-80 daily. Chimpanzee tracking requires an additional permit around $200. A TourRadar traveler notes: "The permits seem expensive but seeing gorillas in their natural habitat was worth every penny. Book well in advance as permits are limited."
What cultural experiences are available in Tanzania and Uganda?
Both countries offer rich cultural encounters from Maasai village visits in Tanzania to meetings with Batwa communities near Uganda's Bwindi Forest. Local markets provide authentic insights while properties like Lake Mulehe Lodge feature cultural shows and craft demonstrations. A TourRadar reviewer shared: "The village visits and cultural interactions were just as memorable as the wildlife - especially learning about traditional medicine from a Maasai healer."
What are the best times to visit Tanzania and Uganda for wildlife viewing?
Tanzania's Serengeti shows its best from late November through March during the wildebeest migration on southern plains. Uganda offers year-round gorilla viewing with optimal hiking conditions during dry seasons (June-September and December-February). A TourRadar traveler observed about their stay at Kontiki Africa Lodge: "The wildlife viewing in Serengeti was incredible - we saw the Big Five and massive herds during our December visit."
