I had never traveled in a group before, and it was such a wonderful experience. I met really nice people. I appreciated that the lodgings and transportation were handled, allowing me to concentrate solely on exploring. In 3 weeks you visit 3 continents and it is amazing to change cultures, scenery and landscapes. We had many different guides in each cities. We have been directed by a tour director speaking English and Spanish. Fernando was very kind with every one. The bus was comfortable and inclining seats. Food was fair usually. Well there are also many negative issues to resolve by the company. We just ran in some cities such as Lisbon and Porto and changed a couple of time bus. It is some kind of hop on and hop off bus. The hotels were mediocre in Morocco so I recommend you to upgrade during your booking. Wi-Fi in the bus rarely worked. No wifi service in Morocco at all. Better to purchase a local SIM card. Overall I really liked this trip and I recommend.

Tour Radar and Destination Spain did not advise at any time that neither of them were actually the tour operators. As a result of this we were very close to not being picked up at all as there was a mix up with paperwork and we had no idea it was a different company. We will not go through a third party again. In saying that the actual tour itself was good. Guides were great, accommodation was excellent. Well done Julia Tours.

Best time to visit Portugal and Spain
- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter tours through Spain and Portugal work really well for avoiding the crowds while keeping costs down. Our longest route runs 23 days from Barcelona through Madrid and into Morocco - you'll see the impressive Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca and explore the blue-painted lanes of Chefchaouen. Many travelers opt for the focused 18-day cultural route through Spain and Portugal, where they've particularly enjoyed discovering Porto's historic wine cellars and listening to authentic Fado music in Lisbon. Our customers often mention loving the winter pricing and smaller group sizes, though they do remind us to pack warm layers for central Spain and Portugal's Atlantic coastline.

- Spring 2026
Spring gives you perfect weather for exploring these Mediterranean countries. Our popular 21-day route combines Spain, Portugal and also Morocco, where travelers consistently praise our local experts in Porto, Seville and Fez. If you're keen to really get to know the north, our 10-day route through Galicia and northern Portugal lets you explore León's Gothic cathedral, taste fresh mussels on an O Grove catamaran trip and discover Porto's historic riverside. The spring festivals in Seville add something special, and our guests love seeing Toledo's countryside in full bloom. The 13-day Andalusia-Morocco combination has been getting great feedback, especially for the walks through Córdoba's Jewish Quarter and visits to Ronda perched on its dramatic cliffs.

- Summer 2026
Summer needs smart planning to handle heat and tourist crowds, but we've got it sorted. Our big 22-day Barcelona starter includes early morning visits to Madrid's Royal Palace and the Alhambra in Granada, plus well-timed breaks during the hottest hours. The 16-day Portugal focus works nicely by staying near the cooler Atlantic - our travelers especially like taking boats out from Porto and stopping in seaside Nazaré. The air-conditioned coaches make a big difference, and we time outdoor activities carefully. For summer travel, the 10-day northern Spain and Portugal route is particularly good since it stays in the cooler areas around Galicia and northern Portugal.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Fall brings together comfortable temperatures and harvest activities perfectly. On our comprehensive 23-day route, you can join the wine harvest in Porto's Douro Valley - actually helping pick grapes and participate in traditional pressing. The 18-day cultural journey covers all the major spots while adding special autumn experiences like mushroom hunting in Galicia and olive harvesting around Andalusia. Our 10-day northern route really shines in fall, when travelers can join seasonal festivals in Santiago de Compostela and help make wine in Portugal's Minho region.

What's the easiest way to get between Spain and Portugal?
There are lots of great options to move between these countries you'll find high-speed trains connecting the major cities like Madrid and Lisbon which is super convenient. If you're looking to save some money regional buses are a great choice especially when you're heading to smaller towns like taking the bus from Vigo to Porto. For longer trips domestic flights connect the big hubs Barcelona Lisbon and Madrid making it really easy to cover more ground.
How can travelers experience local culture firsthand?
You've got some amazing cultural experiences waiting for you in both countries. Learn the passionate art of flamenco right in Seville or catch a soul-stirring Fado performance in Lisbon's historic venues. Porto's traditional Port wine tastings are fantastic and really give you a taste of local life. If you're in Lisbon definitely check out the Fado show that's part of the "Best of Galicia Spain & Portugal" 10-day tour it's a really authentic experience.
What natural areas can I explore beyond the cities?
The outdoors in Spain and Portugal is absolutely stunning. You've got the dramatic peaks of Picos de Europa National Park amazing hiking through the Douro Valley's vineyards and those gorgeous golden beaches along the Algarve. Getting there is pretty flexible you can rent a car join an organized tour or use the really good public transport network. The 15-day "Spain & Portugal Explorer" tour actually includes Picos de Europa plus you get to taste wines in Porto and enjoy authentic paella in Valencia.
Which local foods should I definitely try?
The food scene here is incredible you've got to try the authentic paella in Valencia it's the real deal. In Porto the francesinha sandwich is a local favorite and when in Lisbon the pastel de nata is absolutely essential. You'll find these everywhere from local restaurants to cafes and markets. Our travelers really love the pasteis de nata from Pastéis de Belem in Lisbon and if you're feeling adventurous try the plant-based francesinha on the "Portugal Real Food Adventure featuring Galicia" tour.
