What people love about touring Portugal And Spain solo
- From Lisbon 10-Day Andalucia & Morocco
Overall, I recommend this tour and it's a great value but it can be improved with the following comments: 1- The tour starts in Lisbon but there is no visiting taking place there and the travelers are taken to Seville, Spain directly. I think the intention is that the travelers visit Lisbon on their own so make sure to arrive in Lisbon a few days earlier in case if you're interested to explore the city yourself. 2- The tour communications and timing should be improved. For example, I had to wait for about an hour to be picked up at start point because the driver didn't know I had to be picked up! Also, on the way back to Spain from Morocco, the tour guide didn't stop for lunch and got to the next destination at about 4pm without having anything to eat! When I protested to her, she said that this is an instruction that was given to her. 3- The information provided by tour guide in Fes, Morocco was not entirely correct and I had to correct him when he mentioned that Algorithm was discovered in the Al-Qarawiyin school. Also, he stopped in the shops that I am not sure if it was in the best interest of travelers. 4- The driver on the way back to Spain from Morocco didn't know that much English so it was challenging to communicate with him at times. 5- The accomodation was better than expected and all hotels were good quality.

This was our first organized tour. We found the tour was so much better than our expectations. Our tour guide Maite was exceptional, the coach we travelled on was comfortable and clean Sergo our coach driver was also unbelievable #1 driver, the accommodation was very good.
- Spain, Portugal & Morocco
Pro: this road trip covers many towns and cities, have general idea of what the regions look like, the terrains and climate. Also get a sense of history of those cities, towns and regions. Very informative trip. Tour director Julien is good and funny, did good job to keep the group safe and sound. And included dinners are pretty decent. Con: Wi Fi sucks in most of hotels, hotels are often filled with different groups arriving at same time, and having breakfast together is like a battle, often running out of food in busy hotels. During the tours, we often have to rush and we only got enough free time by ourselves in Seville, Granada and Madrid, which I enjoyed the better than guided tour (very rush) in other towns or cities we just didn't have enough free time to enjoy it, rush rush and rush is the impression of this tour. And spent too long time on guided shopping which are often too expensive. Excursions: value worth optional tours are Flamenco show in Seville, 1001 night in Marrakech and traditional Moroccan night in Fes. In Granada, the Alhambra palace is a miss, the tour to palace is not included. The excursion to Sintra is a miss too. So some regrets in this trip.
What our customers ask about Portugal and Spain Tours for Solo Travelers
How social are these group tours for solo travelers in Spain and Portugal?
Group tours in Spain and Portugal create natural social connections between travelers sharing experiences in these vibrant countries. The daily schedule includes shared meals, walking tours and cultural activities that bring people together. In Lisbon for instance the Lutecia Hotel serves as a social hub where travelers meet for breakfast and evening gatherings. Group activities like Porto wine tastings and Seville flamenco shows give everyone common ground for conversation. A TourRadar traveler puts it well: "The group dynamics were fantastic - as a solo traveler I never felt alone and made great friends while exploring both countries."
How physical are Spain and Portugal tours?
These tours require a moderate level of fitness with daily walks of 2-3 miles on cobblestone streets and uneven terrain. Cities like Porto and Granada have steep hills that need steady walking. Rest stops are frequent and the pace stays manageable for most people. One TourRadar traveler notes: "Be prepared for walking tours of 14,000-17,000 steps some days especially in historic centers like Toledo and Cordoba though the pace is manageable and there are plenty of rest stops."
What type of accommodation can solo travelers expect on Portugal and Spain tours?
The tours use quality 3-4 star hotels in central locations that give easy access to main attractions. Properties like the Melia Castilla in Madrid AC Hotel Porto and Hotel Roma in Lisbon provide comfortable rooms with private bathrooms. Common areas give space for socializing with other travelers. According to one TourRadar review: "The hotels were well-chosen for solo travelers with comfortable lounges and restaurants perfect for socializing with the group." Some hotels like Seville's Catalonia Santa Justa focus on hosting tour groups.
Which cities in Portugal and Spain are most solo traveler-friendly?
Barcelona Lisbon and Porto stand out as especially welcoming cities for solo travelers. The Bairro Alto neighborhood in Lisbon near VIP Executive Arts Hotel offers safe streets lined with cafes and traditional Fado music venues.
