The 2.5-hour drive to Salamanca fits perfectly with a lunch stop at Plaza Mayor. You'll see the sandstone buildings at their best during midday sun. One traveler noted, "We saw many things in a short amount of time, but it was not a fast pace." The journey continues to Vigo (4.5 hours) where you'll get your first taste of Galician food. A tip for sensitive travelers: bring motion sickness medicine for the mountain roads.
- Day 2Portuguese CoastEnter Portugal through Viana do Castelo. Visit the Basilica Santa Luzia for amazing Atlantic views. The old town has steep cobblestone streets so good walking shoes are essential. Drive an hour to Braga to visit the baroque Bom Jesus do Monte sanctuary. End your day in Porto. Most visitors prefer staying in the Ribeira district near restaurants and wine cellars.
- Day 3Porto ExplorationStart at the Stock Exchange Palace right when it opens at 9 AM to avoid crowds. Save your afternoon for Port wine tasting but keep your evening plans light. One visitor shared: "Very interesting itinerary with free time to explore optional activities." End your day with a walk on the Dom Luís I Bridge at sunset.

What people love about 7-day Portugal and Spain tours
- Castilla, Galicia & Portugal, 7 daysOrphelia was absolutely wonderful. The coach needs more work: several of the seatbelts were temperamental, there was no wifi as promised and the USB chargers didn’t work.
- Lisbon, Madrid and Barcelona (6 destinations)I disagree only if they pick up us in the hotel the beginning of the tour and after the tour They should drop of us back to the hotel. If people want to stay near the downtown then that’s is there responsible to get back to their hotel. That’s is only my concern. The rest is excellent. Tours lady was very great and friendly. Anna is special tour guide.
- 6 Day Tour to Lisbon and Porto including Fatima from MadridIt was a wonderful experience. The guide Felipe was knowledgeable, the bus comfortable, the hotels lovely, and the pace just right. Never felt rushed, yet covered a lot of ground.
