Reviews of Small Group tours to Cambodia, Laos And Vietnam
- Southeast Asia Discovery: Seasides and Street Food
I completed this trip almost two years ago now. But, I must say, it was one of the best experiences of my life. My guide was very knowledgeable, organized and fun. I met many amazing people from all over the world that I am still in contact with today (We are actually planning a reunion trip next year!). The accommodations weren't always the best, but you are staying in a few third world countries, and all things considering, they were just fine. Everywhere had wifi (even if it wasn't the greatest wifi at times). You had many options of daily activities, and were never forced to do anything you didn't want to. You were immersed right into Asian culture, whether it been trying new food, visiting temples, or meeting locals at the homestays. I would highly recommend this tour, it will change your life!
- Southeast Asia Encompassed
I've traveled to Southeast Asia and to South America with G Adventures on 'Classic' style tours, and both trips were wonderful. I traveled solo, but I found like-minded travelers in my group. All the logistics are taken care of so you can just enjoy the experience. The CEOs and local guides make sure you know what to expect, what's needed, optional activities, meal suggestions, etc. for each day. There was a good balance of scheduled activities and free time with flexibility to seek your own interests. Accommodations were mostly clean and comfortable. Overall very good value for the money, in my opinion. Also, G makes a point to give back to local communities and provide local cultural experiences not often found with other group tours. If you want to see the major sites, but also dive a bit deeper, without the hassle of doing all the legwork yourself, find a G Adventures tour and go!
- 21 Days Fantastic Circle of Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand & Laos Tour (private guide & driver)Customizable
The tour was absolutely fantastic, and I had an amazing time throughout. Our guide was exceptional, consistently going above and beyond to provide us with an authentic immersion into the country. From spontaneous rides in tuk-tuks to local restaurants, insightful advice on regional dishes, and a wealth of fascinating facts about Thailand, our guide ensured an enriching experience. The private customized tour was perfect, offering us the flexibility to explore destinations swiftly without being bound to a large group. It fostered spontaneity and enabled us to uncover hidden gems such as small local restaurants and unique delicacies. The intimate, personalized setting, where everyone shared similar expectations and desires for the tour, truly enhanced the overall value of the experience."
What our customers ask about Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam Small Group Tours
What size are the small group tours typically for tours in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam?
Groups generally range from 10-15 travelers creating a close-knit travel experience. Accommodations like Kiridara Hotel in Luang Prabang and Tara Angkor Hotel in Siem Reap are selected specifically for these smaller numbers. The limited group size enables visits to local villages schools and specialty locations like lotus farms that larger tours cannot access. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "Because there were only two of us in our group we were able to see and do so much more. We went to several villages schools lotus farms that larger groups couldn't access."
What type of accommodation can I expect on small group tours in these countries?
These tours feature carefully chosen boutique hotels that match the intimate nature of small group travel. Guests often stay at distinctive properties like the centrally located Tara Angkor Hotel in Siem Reap or the Tirant Hotel in Hanoi's historic district. Recent TourRadar feedback states: "The accommodations were fantastic especially the La Pandora cruise in Halong Bay and Tara Angkor in Siem Reap which stood out for their personalized service perfect for our small group."
How does transportation work with small group tours in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam?
Transportation uses smaller vehicles like minivans or compact buses instead of large coaches. This allows groups to navigate through narrow streets in places like Hanoi's Old Quarter and reach remote villages near Luang Prabang that standard tours skip. A TourRadar traveler confirms: "Having a smaller vehicle meant we could take scenic backroads and stop at interesting local spots that big buses would miss."
How much free time is typically available on small group tours?
Tours provide a mix of guided activities and independent exploration time. Travelers can spend evenings walking through Hoi An's illuminated streets or afternoons discovering local cafes in Luang Prabang at their own pace. According to one TourRadar review: "The perfect mix of organized activities and free time to explore - being in a small group meant we could get recommendations from our guide for local spots tourists don't usually find."
What is the best group size for exploring temples and cultural sites in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam?
Groups of 8-12 people work best for visiting cultural landmarks like Angkor Wat Luang Prabang's temples and Hanoi's historic districts. These numbers allow proper interaction with guides and sufficient time at each location. As a TourRadar traveler shares: "Being in a smaller group allowed us intimate access to temples and local villages with plenty of time to ask our guide questions and take photos without feeling rushed."
