I would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking to get a taste of Africa in just 3 weeks! Acacia were amazing, the guide and driver were brilliant - so knowledgeable and funny, they really made the trip! Food was also delicious! Great truck, with a range of ages but everyone was up for a laugh! Highlights: definitely the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, managed to see the Big 5. Zanzibar was beautiful and Kandi Beach at Lake Malawi was great!

Best time to visit Kenya and Tanzania
- Winter 2025 / 2026
The winter season in East Africa brings perfect conditions for both gorilla encounters and wildlife viewing. From December through February, our most requested tours connect Rwanda's forests with Tanzania's vast plains. These quality wildlife journeys begin in Kigali and take you into Bwindi's misty forests to meet mountain gorillas before heading into classic safari areas. Our travelers particularly enjoy the evening chats around the fire with Gorilla Doctors vets who tell fascinating stories about their work protecting these remarkable animals. We also run focused tours through Kenya and Tanzania's wildlife circuits, spending three to four nights in the Serengeti during wildebeest calving season. The camps sit in prime spots for both morning and evening game drives, and guests love watching newborn calves take their wobbly first steps while lions linger nearby.

- Spring 2026
Spring offers lighter crowds and better value, making it ideal for longer explorations. Our most popular routes span 15-24 days, giving proper time at each stop. The tours linking Rwanda's primate experiences with Kenya and Tanzania's parks consistently get top marks from our travelers. You'll meet gorillas in Bwindi, then move through Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara, Serengeti and also Ngorongoro Crater. Longer trips include real cultural connections - you'll cook traditional dishes with local families in Stone Town and learn about women's craft projects in Maasai villages. The safari camps are perfectly placed for wildlife viewing, and guests particularly enjoy their morning coffee while watching elephants gather at nearby water sources.

- Summer 2026
Summer brings the spectacular wildebeest migration, perfect timing for our full Kenya and Tanzania experiences. These premium tours run 20-21 days, starting from Kigali and finishing in Arusha or Zanzibar. You'll have quality time in both Masai Mara and Serengeti watching enormous herds cross rivers while crocodiles wait below. Our travelers really value our expert guides who know exactly where to position vehicles for the best views of river crossings. The cultural elements are equally rich - you'll craft traditional items with Maasai women, visit highland coffee farms and also explore Stone Town's narrow streets with local history experts. We also offer focused wildlife tours that concentrate on the migration corridor, with three to four nights each in the Mara and Serengeti.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Fall touring captures East Africa as short rains start greening the landscape. Our most booked trips run 21-24 days, linking multiple countries and environments. Starting in Nairobi, you'll explore Kenya's parks, Tanzania's northern circuit and also finish with time on Zanzibar's beaches. Our travelers often mention how well these tours mix serious wildlife viewing with cultural experiences - one week you're tracking gorillas in Bwindi, the next you're snorkeling Zanzibar's coral reefs. Camping safaris become especially popular in autumn, offering great value while keeping you close to nature. Guests tell us they love drifting off to sleep hearing lions in the Serengeti and waking up to see the sun rise over Lake Victoria.

When's the Best Time to Plan Your Kenya and Tanzania Safari?
You'll get amazing wildlife viewing during the dry season from June to October - that's when everything really comes alive. If you want to catch the Great Migration it's happening July through October and trust me it's incredible watching over 2 million wildebeest brave those crocodile-filled rivers. Looking for baby animals? December to February is perfect with around 500,000 wildebeest births in the southern Serengeti. The green season from March to May can be great too with better rates and fewer tourists though some roads get a bit tricky.
Can I Put Kenya and Tanzania Together in One Trip?
You definitely can! Most people cross at Isebania border and it works really well combining the iconic parks. You'll get to experience everything from Lake Nakuru's amazing rhino sanctuary to Amboseli with those stunning Kilimanjaro views. The Ngorongoro Crater is incredible with its 25,000 resident animals and Tarangire's ancient baobab trees are just spectacular. Don't worry about the logistics - expert guides handle all the border crossing details and sort out the right 4x4 vehicles for each country. Want to end on a relaxing note? Think about adding Zanzibar's spice plantations and beautiful beaches.
How Different Are the Maasai Mara and Serengeti Really?
While they're part of the same ecosystem they each offer something special: In the Maasai Mara you've got 1,510 sq km packed with wildlife especially along that western escarpment. The lion prides are incredible and you'll often see cheetahs seeking shade under vehicles. The game viewing is fantastic year-round and you get these really personal safari experiences plus amazing visits to traditional Maasai communities. The Serengeti's much bigger at 14,763 sq km with everything from open plains to northern forests. This is where you'll catch those dramatic Mara River crossings during migration. Keep an eye out for lions surveying their territory from the unique Kopjes rock formations and the special wildlife zones like Seronera River Valley.
What's the Best Way to Experience Local Life During My Safari?
You'll want to check out genuine Maasai villages like Tepesua in Loita Hills where they're doing great work with women's health and education. Get involved with traditional beadwork join in some warrior dances and support amazing initiatives like the Tepesua Widows Income Project. Over in Tanzania the Mto wa Mbu village gives you real insight into farming life and local cooking. Coffee lovers should definitely visit Karatu explore Arusha's vibrant markets or join community projects around Lake Victoria.
