What people love about Lares Trek Tours in July
- The Lares Trek
Wow! What a trip. Eddie (Edison Romero) and JC (Jeiko Cuenco) were entertaining, well informed and very engaged with the whole tour. They seemed invested in our success and they really bonded with the group. Food was unreal! The chefs outdid themselves in their meals. Also accommodating for people with dietary restrictions. I never went hungry! The trek itself was breathtaking (sometimes literally). The views were stunning and the trails were great. Felt like something out of a movie. Would recommend to anyone in a heartbeat!
- Lares Trek to Machu Picchu 4 Days/3 Nights
hospitable and knowledgeable hosts that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He took the time to point out amazing details about the flora, fauna, and overall landscape that we never would have noticed otherwise. The food prepared by our chef, Herman, and his assistant, Hernan, was out of this world. From the moment that we woke up, we were provided with hot beverages, three fantastic meals, and enough snacks to feed a small army. As for our porters, Victor and Serafina, they were always on the move helping to provide us with hot water and towels, packing/unpacking gear, and corralling the mules. I can't stress enough how much their hard work enabled us to focus entirely on our trek and its beautiful sights, without having to worry about logistics. These people are absolute wizards. As for the trek itself, the scenery was so gorgeous that it nearly made Machu Picchu an afterthought. Camping within full view of mountain peaks and glaciers under the starry sky is something that I will not soon forget. Thank you for such an unbelievable experience!

Francisco the guide was so amazing, his knowledge was fantastic and so interesting! He made sure we were all safe and looked after and was kind and funny with it!
What our customers ask about Lares Trek Tours in July 2025
What is the weather like in the Lares Trek region during July?
July brings dry and cold conditions to the Lares Trek region with temperatures moving between -5°C/23°F during nighttime and 20°C/68°F in daylight hours. Higher elevations such as Sicllakasa Pass at 4830m can experience snow while lower areas like Huaran at 2700m stay milder. A TourRadar traveler noted: "We felt a little light headed and dizzy on the high passes but we recovered well in the evenings at camp. The yummy food and beautiful scenery made up for it all."
What kind of accommodation is available along the Lares Trek in July?
The trek offers a mix of camping and hotel stays. Travelers sleep in spacious 4-person tents shared by two people at sites like Puyoc at 4300m and rest at hotels such as Golden Sunrise Machu Picchu in Aguas Calientes. Campgrounds like Wacawasi at 3600m provide quality gear including sleeping mats and dining areas. A TourRadar traveler reports: "The equipment was in great condition compared to some of the other groups we encountered on the trek."
How challenging is the Lares Trek in July compared to other months?
The dry July weather creates good trail conditions but cold temperatures and high altitude up to 4830m at Sicllakasa Pass present real challenges. Daily hikes between locations like Cuncani and Lares Hot Springs take 6-8 hours. One TourRadar traveler shared: "The altitude was a big issue for me and I struggled on some of the high passes at 4500m+ but my guide was very understanding and urged me to take breaks as needed."
What cultural experiences can I expect on the Lares Trek in July?
The route passes through authentic Andean villages like Huacahuasi and Patacancha where local farming and textile traditions continue. Visitors can stay at community sites like the G Adventures-supported Cuncani Community Campsite and visit the Ccaccaccollo women's weaving cooperative. A TourRadar traveler noted: "Our guide spoke Quechua so we had a special interaction with the village kids... we were the only tourists in the village. Besides getting to Machu Picchu this was by far the best part of the trek for us."
How much does a Lares Trek tour typically cost in July?
Tours in July cost between 600-1645 USD for 4-7 day experiences with most 4-day trips priced around 700 USD. The price usually covers stays at properties like Inti Punku Hotel in Aguas Calientes meals transportation and guide services. As shared by a TourRadar traveler: "Worth every penny for the authentic experience and professional service provided throughout the trek."
How crowded is the Lares Trek route in July?
The Lares Trek sees fewer visitors than the popular Inca Trail even during peak July season particularly in areas like Kiswarani and Cuncani villages. A TourRadar traveler observed: "We were virtually alone on the mountain and I enjoyed it so much especially after hearing about the crowds and queues on the Inca Trail."
