Mt Kilimanjaro Trek Tours
So you want to stand on top of Africa? The journey up Kilimanjaro takes you through proper rainforest, across this massive plateau called Shira, past the Lava Tower where the air gets proper thin, then up the Barranco Wall - which sounds scary but isn't really. Uhuru Peak at sunrise though? That's the moment that makes it all worth it.

Summarized in one word: Unforgettable!! We were traveling in Tanzania for a total of about 3 1/2 weeks and planned an activity for each day with Migration Venture. The planning was well thought out from A-Z and really individually tailored to us. Payment was made in advance including tips. The all-round package in terms of support definitely gets 5 stars out of 5 from us. The hotels on the mainland were all incredibly beautiful. Unfortunately, we did not like the hotels on Zanzibar at all. Probably because Zanzibar is very homophobic and I was traveling with my buddy. This probably made the search more difficult. Here is an overview of what we experienced: -3 days safari in 3 different national parks. All three are completely different from the landscape and one more beautiful than the other! To experience live how lions catch a wild boar or an antelope is really unforgettable! -Hunting with the bushmen and meeting different tribes. -7 days Kilimanjaro climb (Lemosho route). Our Guid Isa was the best! Took very good care of us. The tips for the team were divided in advance accordingly, so that everyone knew what he gets. Likewise, the conditions were fairly divided, porters did not carry more than 25kg. -Visit to Hotsprings and waterfalls (Beautiful). -3 nights homestay with a couple on site (in the mountains). Was a very nice insight into how people live there too. -drive to Dar es Salam as well as ferry to Zanzibar -In Zanzibar we have visited Prison Island (giant turtles), Stonetown visit, snorkeled, were diving and have simply visited the beautiful different beaches. We also visited the mangrove forests and the unique monkeys. Thanks for everything Issa and Amos! :)

Edward “Teacher” Lazaro, owner and leader of Kwesa Tours and his fine team led our family and friends to the summit of Kilimanjaro! Our group of 20 from the U.S. (IL, CO and TX) selected the Marangu route because it is the only route where you use huts for the ascent and descent and we generally had a crew with no climbing experience. Teacher is a fascinating, principled, man who truly cares about his clients (we now call him our friend) and those values translate to his whole team. Bottom line: Teacher and his KWESA team took care of us from start to finish, focused on our self care and achieving our goal - get to the top!… safely. They provided support, preparation, briefings, nutrition (compliments to the cooks), hydration, and friendly encouragement throughout the trip. The trek was culturally and environmentally interesting, safe, fun, yet challenging … with no technical climbing. I highly recommend Kilimanjaro Wonders Expeditions.

Best time to visit Mount Kilimanjaro
- Winter 2025 / 2026
The Lemosho route really shines during winter climbs on Kilimanjaro. It takes 8 days which gives you proper time to adjust to the altitude - you'll start in the forest at 2,200m and work your way across the wide-open Shira Plateau. Our travelers keep telling us how much that extra day helps them handle the winter conditions. The guides come prepared with special winter gear and those essential hot-water bottles that make such a difference during those freezing nights at Barafu Camp (4,640m). Even when temperatures drop below zero at the higher camps, the support teams somehow manage to serve up hot meals that keep everyone going.

- Spring 2026
Spring climbing on Kilimanjaro is particularly good on both the Machame and Lemosho routes. The 7-day Machame trek really comes into its own with clear spring skies - you get amazing views across the moorland and down to the plains. Our groups love camping at Shira Plateau this time of year since the nights are warmer and you can see countless stars overhead. Taking the longer 8-day Lemosho route in spring gives photographers plenty of chances to capture the mountain's transformation as winter snow melts away and spring plants emerge. The local guides know all the spots where seasonal wildflowers pop up briefly at the lower elevations.

- Summer 2026
The Lemosho route takes 8 days on Kilimanjaro and comes highly recommended for summer climbs, with TourRadar customers noting how the extended acclimatization helps during warmer weather. As you cross the wide Shira Plateau, the route gives your body proper time to adapt, while guides pay extra attention to pacing throughout summer ascents. Many travelers choose the 7-day Machame path instead, liking how it moves through rainforest, mountain meadows and alpine desert, offering natural shelter from summer temperatures. The mountain teams on both routes have extensive experience handling summer conditions - they pick campsites with good ventilation, and know the perfect timing for summit attempts to catch cooler morning air. Our customers often mention how the support crews keep spirits high through warm days, serving hot meals at elevation and starting spontaneous songs that make afternoon climbs more enjoyable.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
TourRadar customers consistently point to four tour companies that really excel at Kilimanjaro climbs: World Adventure Tours, Spider Tours and Safaris, Kwesa Tours and also Migration Venture Africa. The guides from these operators get lots of mentions for going above and beyond - they're patient when you're struggling with altitude, keep spirits up during tough sections and know exactly when to push or pull back based on conditions and group energy. The food gets talked about a lot in the reviews too. It's actually quite impressive what these teams manage to cook up at high camps - hot meals that give you the energy you need for those pre-dawn summit pushes. They bring quality gear as well, which matters enormously when you're dealing with temperature swings and weather changes on the mountain. What really comes through in traveler feedback is how these companies handle the human side of the climb. The guides don't just lead - they create this supportive team atmosphere that makes a big difference when you're tired and the air's getting thin. They're good at reading people too, knowing when someone needs extra encouragement or when to adjust the pace to keep the group moving safely together.

What's the best time to climb Kilimanjaro?
You've got two really good windows for climbing Kili. January through March brings clear skies and cooler temps which is perfect for those crisp summit views and you'll likely catch some snow up top making it pretty spectacular. Then there's June to October when it's warmer and drier lots of people choose this time and you've got better chances of spotting wildlife in the lower forest areas.
Which route should I take up Kilimanjaro?
It really comes down to what kind of experience you're after and how comfortable you are with trekking. The Machame Route's super popular because it gives you more time to adjust to the altitude and the scenery is just incredible you'll go through these amazing forests and across the Shira Plateau. If you're not keen on camping the Marangu Route's got proper huts to sleep in though it's a bit tougher on acclimatization. The Lemosho Route's fantastic for taking it slow and steady with fewer crowds and amazing views while the Rongai Route coming up from the north side is quieter and generally easier on first-time climbers.
