Sarah· December 8th, 2023Driver was lovely but he was not a tour guide and had limited English. We had the cheapest hotel rooms, lacking in outside views, one next to a noisy lift keeping us awake all night. Driver slept in the car which was poor. We were taken to places and sold extra tours to see animals that were not there and the locals told us did not exist. Poor value for money. Munnar was lovely. Had to pay to upgrade our houseboat. The hotels were excellent with good facilities with a range of activities, particularly for health conscious travellers in this part of the world. The driver was excellent, responsible and knowledgeable. The guides overall were very good, friendly and knowledgeable in their area of history and culture. The traveller should carry out their own research before committing to the daily activities provided by the tour as you may need to make choices about what activities you want to do. The 'every day' entrance fee expenditure, which were relatively small amounts, had not been explained to me up front or indeed listed anyway on the itinerary, even as approximate amounts, this would have been appreciated. I would question the facilities and cleanliness of the floating hotel boat, the limited crew members on board had to operate the boat and look after the guests including cooking / cleaning and so on. The crew also used the boat facilities for their own living quarters.
