Aachen
Start in Aachen with a city tour covering 2,000 years of history. You'll see the Elisenbrunnen fountain, then head to the Gothic town hall that was built on top of Charlemagne's royal palace. The UNESCO World Heritage Aachen Cathedral gets a guided tour including the treasury. After that, the afternoon is yours to walk through the museums at your own pace.

Maastricht
Travel to Maastricht, one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, and cross the St. Servatius Bridge into the old town. You'll check out the 17th-century town hall on the market square, then see Vrijthof square with the 10th-century Basilica of St. Servatius and the Gothic Sint Janskerk. The Gates of Hell, the oldest city gate still standing in the Netherlands, is also on the route. Later in the afternoon, explore on your own, and don't skip the 7th-century Bishop's Mill if you want to see traditional baking.

Liège
Take the train to Liège and start at the impressive Calatrava train station. From there, cross the Meuse to Museum Island and walk through the old town's Hors-Château district. Your guide points out Romanesque and Gothic churches, Art Nouveau buildings, the Bishop's Palace, and quiet courtyards tucked away throughout the area. By evening, you'll take a boat trip on the Meuse River to wrap up the day.

Aachen

The afternoon is free, so you can shop in the city center or visit museums. Your guide can give you suggestions on what's worth your time.

Departure
