- Day 1
Dar es Salaam to Stone Town
You'll take a short ferry from Dar es Salaam across to Stone Town on Zanzibar. Once you arrive, spend the day walking through the old town, moving along the cobbled alleyways and checking out the palaces, courtyards, and mosques scattered throughout. Later in the evening, head to Forodhani market where you can grab a fresh fruity cocktail with ocean views, or if you prefer, find one of the local bars instead.

Stone Town to Northern Zanzibar
This morning you'll have some free time to try local activities, and there's an optional spice tour available if you're interested. After that, you'll head north to beach accommodation where you'll stay for two nights. You can spend your days scuba diving, snorkelling, or swimming in the warm tropical waters, or just hang out in a hammock on the beach if you'd rather take it easy.

Northern Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam
Head back to Stone Town for some last-minute shopping before catching the ferry return to the mainland. You'll spend your final night on the banks of the Indian Ocean, then prepare to head inland the next day.

Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park
Leave the coast behind and travel inland through Mikumi National Park, watching for wildlife along the way. Your accommodation sits just outside the park gates. Depending on what time you arrive, there's an optional open 4x4 safari game drive available if you want to search for resident wildlife.

Mikumi to Iringa
Travel to Iringa and visit Kisolanza Farm in the Southern Tanzanian Highlands. This working farm grows organic meat and vegetables for local markets and has been run by the Ghaui family for more than 70 years.

Iringa to Utengule Coffee Lodge
Head toward Malawi and stop at Utengule Coffee Lodge in the Mbeya range in Southern Tanzania. You can take in views of the East African Rift Valley, relax by the pool, or do activities like squash, tennis, table tennis, or volleyball. There's an optional guided coffee plantation tour where you'll see the roasting process and get to try some home-grown coffee.

Utengule to Lake Malawi
Leave Tanzania and head to the Songwe border post into Malawi. Lake Malawi takes up almost a fifth of the country and matters a lot to local people. You'll see fishermen working in traditional Bwato dugout canoes. Spend time relaxing on the beach, taking a village walk, visiting the local craft market to learn about woodcarving, playing Bao, or looking for souvenirs to haggle over.

Lake Malawi to Ngala Beach Lodge
Drive through rubber plantations to reach Mzuzu, the capital of Malawi's northern region and the country's third largest town. You'll stop briefly to pick up supplies and walk through the markets before arriving at Ngala Beach Lodge.

Ngala Beach Lodge
You've got a free day at Ngala Beach Lodge. Rent a kayak, go snorkelling, take a village walk, hike to a waterfall, or just relax in the warm, fresh waters of Lake Malawi and enjoy the surroundings.

Mzuzu to Petauke
Say goodbye to Lake Malawi and drive through Nkhotakhota Game Reserve heading toward the Zambian border. You'll complete border formalities and continue on to Petauke, a region known for agriculture with maize, cotton, sunflower, and soya beans.

Petauke to Lusaka
Leave early and take the Great Eastern Road across the Luangwa River to Lusaka, Zambia's capital and Southern Africa's fastest-growing city. Your accommodation is on a small farm outside the city centre where zebras and antelope roam around.

Lusaka to Livingstone
Leave Lusaka and travel south to Livingstone, home to Victoria Falls, the largest curtain waterfall in the world. You'll visit the falls and then head to your accommodation on the banks of the Zambezi River. Over the next three days, you'll have leisure time to do optional activities the area is famous for.

Livingstone to Kasane
Leave Livingstone and make a short border crossing into Botswana and the town of Kasane. From there you'll access Chobe National Park, which is known for its large elephant population and varied wildlife. In the afternoon, take a Fish Eagle Cruise along the Chobe River and look for animals on the banks.

Kasane to Elephant Sands
Early in the morning you'll board an open 4x4 safari vehicle for a game drive in Chobe National Park hunting for lion, buffalo, hippo, antelope, and birds. After that you'll leave Chobe and drive south to accommodation at Elephant Sands, where there's a fresh watering hole in the middle of the camp that brings in wildlife for viewing.

Elephant Sands to Maun
Leave Nata and make your way to Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. After a quick stop in town, head to your accommodation. Spend a relaxing afternoon around the pool and get ready for an overnight excursion to the delta the next morning.

Maun to Okavango Delta
Get up early and board an open 4x4 safari vehicle to transfer to where your guides and polers are waiting. Board a traditional mokoro and relax while being poled through lagoons and grasses to reach a tented camp for the evening. Before sunset, go on an afternoon wilderness walk with your guides.

Okavango Delta to Maun
Wake to the wilderness sounds, have breakfast, then pack your mokoros and head back to the poler station. Your 4x4 vehicle will pick you up to return to Maun. If time works out, there's an optional scenic flight available to see the UNESCO World Heritage site from above.

Maun to Ghanzi Region
Travel via Ghanzi, a town on the edge of the Kalahari Desert, to the border. Complete the border process and continue to accommodation near the Namibian border. You'll meet a local San or Bushman guide who will show you how they've survived for over 100,000 years.

Ghanzi to Windhoek
Head to Windhoek, Namibia's capital, a small city with around 200,000 people. After settling in, explore town and check out the bars and restaurants serving local food. Make sure you visit Joes Beer House.

Leave the Atlantic coast and head inland, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn with a stop for photos. You'll camp in a remote desert camp on the northern edge of the great Namib Desert where the stars are incredible.

Namib Desert to Sesriem
Leave camp early and travel via Solitaire, Namibia's smallest town, then enter Namib Naukluft National Park. Trek to the top of famous Dune 45, then transfer deeper into the park to Dead Vlei for a nature walk. Stop at Sesriem Canyon to explore rock layers and pebbles that show the desert's geological history, then head to accommodation.
