  • 34-day Zanzibar to Cape Town (Accommodated) reviewer 1
    · May 28th, 2019
This is a one of a kind experience. When I first met the tour leader Elton, all my worries about travelling just disappeared. This guy knew his stuff. I started off in Stone Town on Zanzibar where culture and sea food thrives. There is so much to do and see - or just relax on the beach if you want. Every day was as action packed as you wanted it to be - or you could slow down and enjoy the Zanzibar to Cape Town Swimming Pool Tour, where almost every campsite had a swimming pool. Camping for such a long time was rough, but there were many opportunities to upgrade if you're not a broke uni student... The food was incredible (try and convince the cooking team to make some traditional food - you won't regret it) and so was the company - Elton, Lamek and Dodo have enough stories to make any quiet night into an interesting one. What would I recommend? Buy a volley ball and take it around the continent with you - there is nothing better than having locals laugh at you for having horrible hand-eye coordination. Take a small language book with you (I had the Lonely Planet Africa Phrase Book), because it is also such a great feeling to have locals appreciate that you're trying to get involved. Zanzibar: Booze Cruise and Diving (if you have your license) Malawi: Livingstonia Day Hike in Chitimba (should be relatively fit to do this) Zambia: Swimming underneath Victoria Falls (will need Zimbabwe visa), also best to look at Victoria Falls from the Zim side, and if you can afford it; Helicopter Ride over the falls. Namibia: Sleep around the fire in Spitzkoppe, Quad Biking and Skydiving in Swakopmund South Africa: Canoe Safari on the Orange River and Wine Tasting (also stay in Cape Town for a couple of days after your trip - catch up with fellow travellers and explore) Would I do it again? Yes, 100% 34 days travelling through 6 countries was not enough. Remember T.I.A (This Is Africa)!

    • Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperatorWritten November 2017

Every Acacia Overland tour has an Adventure Pass which is paid to your tour leader in Africa at the beginning of the tour (or pre-paid by arrangement prior to your tour). This is separate and in addition to the Tour Price, and covers selected park entries, activities and excursions along the way where payment goes directly to the supplier to ensure local suppliers benefit directly from the income.
