You'll arrive in Paro and meet up with your OneSeed representative. After checking into your lodge, take some time to recover from travel or wander around the city on your own if you're feeling up to it.

Taktsang Monastery
Following breakfast, you'll drive to the trailhead and start hiking toward Taktsang monastery, known as Tiger's Nest. The path goes through pine forest lined with prayer flags, climbing steadily upward. You'll grab some refreshments partway up before reaching the monastery itself, perched 3,000 ft above the valley on a dramatic rock face. This monastery dates back to the 1600s and the views from here are really something special.

Paro to Shing ka rap
Head to Gunitsawa Army check post where vehicle access ends and your trek officially begins. The trail climbs gradually alongside the Pachu river, passing through meadows and paddy fields with impressive farm houses dotting the landscape. After roughly four hours of walking, you'll reach Shana village, then continue through conifer forest to camp at Shing ka rap for the night.

Shing ka rap to Jigme Dorji National Park
The trek continues with a series of moderate ups and downs as you move through the river valley and into Jigme Dorji National Park. As the valley gets narrower, you'll climb up to a meadow where camp gets set up. From this location, Mount Chomolhari comes into view for the first time, and it's quite a sight.

Jigme Dorji National Park to Jangothang
You'll trek further up the Pachu valley, which opens into patches of alpine meadow and forest areas. After passing an army outpost, the high mountain ridges and snow-capped peaks become increasingly visible. Yak herder settlements appear regularly now as you pass through villages including Soe, Takethang, and Dangochang before finally reaching Jangothang, one of the most beautiful campsites in this region.

Jangothang
This is an acclimatization day at Jangothang, so you can rest at camp or take a short day hike if you prefer to stay active. Watch for blue sheep on the upper slopes around you. There are solid short hiking trails going in three directions from here, with Chomolhari and its peaks visible directly to the west.

Jangothang to Lingshi
Just after leaving camp, the trail climbs steeply for about 30 minutes then settles into a gradual ascent to Nyilila pass at 16,043 ft. The pass offers spectacular views of Mt. Chomolhari, Jichu Drake, and Tsherimgang, all towering above 21,000 ft. You'll descend into the Lingshi basin with views of Lingshi Dzong, then continue down to Lingshi to camp.

Lingshi
You have a rest day at Lingshi. If you're feeling energetic, take a day hike out to Lingshi Dzong, or simply relax at camp and take in the surroundings.

Lingshi to Shodu
The trail climbs to Yelila pass at 16,174 ft where clear days bring excellent views of Jhomolhari, Tserimgang, and Masanggang. From the pass, the trek to the campsite at Shodu involves a steep downhill descent.

Shodu to Barshong Dzong
You'll walk along the Thimphu Chu river through fir and hemlock forests, passing several waterfalls as you go. Gradually the valley gets narrower and the path moves to the slopes, climbing steadily toward the ruins of Barshong Dzong.

Barshong Dzong to Thimphu
Descend through rhododendron forests to reach Dolam Kencho, then continue down to Dodina at 8,530 ft where a car will be waiting. The drive to Thimphu takes about 30 minutes.

Thimphu
Spend the day exploring Thimphu valley. Check out the National Library and its Buddhist manuscripts, then visit the Traditional Medicine Institute where acupuncture and herbal remedies continue centuries-old practices. The Painting School has young monks learning Buddhist Thangka art, and you can also stop by a mask maker workshop. If you're interested in crafts, there are workshops for fine metalwork, weaving, ceramics, and paper making. End the day browsing the Handicrafts Emporium and local shops for souvenirs.

Thimphu to Paro
Before heading back to Paro, spend time exploring Thimphu itself. Walk through local temples, pick up some handicrafts, and visit Simtokha Dzong, Bhutan's oldest fortress built back in 1629.

Paro Departure
