    Paro

Early start for the hike up to Taktsang Monastery, perched about 900 meters above the valley floor at 3,180 meters/10,429 feet. The trail has some steep sections but the structure clinging to the cliff makes it worth the effort. Around halfway up, you'll stop for lunch at the cafeteria restaurant where hikers gather. The descent takes less time than the climb, and you're back down in Paro by evening.

    Meals

  3. Day 3

    Paro to Jele Dzong

After breakfast, you'll head to the roadhead at the National Museum to start trekking. The path climbs gradually with Paro Valley opening up below and snow-capped mountains across the horizon. Jumolhari shows itself on clear days. By afternoon, you reach Jele La Dzong at 3,400 meters/11,155 feet. Most of the structure sits in ruins, but the Lhakhang inside still holds a Buddha Sakyamuni statue you can visit.

The climb to Jele La pass at 3,490 meters/11,450 feet is steady but manageable. You might cross paths with yak herders or spot Monal pheasants. Jumolhari and the surrounding snow-capped peaks frame the views throughout.

From there, you descend to camp beside Jimilangtsho lakes, known for giant trout. Jichu Drake and Gangkar Puensum (Bhutan's highest at 7,497 meters/24,606 feet) rise in the distance. You'll feel the altitude by the evening.

The path then climbs to a 4,050 meter/13,287 foot summit overlooking Janetsho Lake. You might encounter yak herders' camps along the way. By late afternoon, you reach camp near Simkota Lake with the day's exertion behind you.

Itinerary and guides were excellent, and we loved the trek. In particular the teamwork on the trek was great. The main improvement would be pre tour communications as we were not clear on various things like whether we needed to arrive the day before and exactly what was laid on versus what we needed to bring. Thise guidelines need to be crystal clear.

We finished Druk path trek with culture tour in Bhutan. Our guide, porters and driver were amazing. They were professional, entertaining and knowledgeable too. There was a lots of singing and dancing on the trekking which was really fun. We got good accommodation for hotel, nice tented camp and incredible food. This trip covered all the main sightseeing and trekking place such as Jele Dzong, Jimilangtsho, Tashichho Dzong, Tiger's Nest Monastry, Dochu-La pass, punaha Dzong, the palace of Great Happiness and lots of beautiful scenery, which is what drew us to Bhutan initially. Our Guide coordinated perfectly and never did even one fault. Thank Adventure Himalayan Travels and treks for providing us with good guide, porters and driver. It was really hard to say goodbye. Highly recommended !

    Asked on October 18th, 2023

I would like to ask whether is still possible to join your tour to Bhutan starting at the end of October 2023. And I have few questions: 1 - What is the main difference between two very similar tours? 2 - Is possible to arrive to Paro day ahead with afternoon arrival? If yes, I understand that I cannot travel without travel agency around Bhutan, does that mean you have to withdraw me at the airport or I can go to hotel that evening alone and we meet other day in the morning? 3 - Tour has price 3375EUR without any additionals but tour costs 2186EUR and here is charged also 849EUR sustainable development fee. Do I understand that this fee is for tour already included in its price or I have to count with it also? And by the way, what are the other costs not included into these prices? 4 - Do you know how long does it take to obtain visa? 5 - In case you have any additional information you could share, I would be happy if you send it.

    Asked on August 29th, 2023

I would be solo but could also join a group. How much would this cost? Are there a lot of narrow paths with ledges or is it fairly moderate? I have a slight fear of heights. Looking at October. I am interested in finding more out about both - things like pricing, etc.

    • Adventure Himalayan TravelsOperatorWritten August 2023

Unfortunately, we don't have a Group on October 2023. If you want to do solo trekking it will cost USD 4075 for this trek and tour. Since it is a trekking trail, the roads are moderate and not too narrow.

    • Adventure Himalayan TravelsOperatorWritten August 2023

The groups mostly doesn't fill up. Its better to book 3 months before the start of the tour. In case it does fill up then, its no problem as we can send you on a private tour on the same price as the group price.
