Quito
Land in Quito and settle into Ecuador's capital, which sits on top of ancient Incan foundations. You'll start with a guided tour of the city, then head to the Equatorial line where you can stand with one foot in each hemisphere at the same time. After that, the Inti-Ñan Museum gives you the backstory on why the equator matters and what makes this location so significant. It's a full day of orientation to the country and its history.

Quito to Tena
Leave Quito behind and travel into the rainforest with incredible views opening up along the way. By late afternoon you'll arrive in Tena, where the rivers are rushing and ready. White water rafting is on the agenda, so you'll spend your time navigating the tumbling rapids and getting soaked in the process. It's your introduction to Ecuador's jungle side.

Tena
Today is yours to spend however you'd like around Tena and the surrounding jungle. Some people relax with hot sugar cane and cinnamon drinks from local vendors. Others choose to visit an indigenous community to meet a shaman and spend time with local children, learning about tribal traditions and how people actually live in the rainforest. It's flexible time to explore at your own pace.

Tena to Baños
Head out of the rainforest toward Bañios, known for its outdoor thrills and surrounded by waterfalls, valleys, and the active Volcán Tungurahua. You can add optional zip lining and canyoneering to your day if adventure sports appeal to you. Come evening, there's a barbecue dinner and you'll take a salsa dancing lesson with local instructor Edith, so you can pick up some moves before the night ends.

Baños
Dedicate this day to choosing your own adventure in Bañios. Horseback riding takes you through the valleys and past waterfalls. Canyoneering involves rappelling down canyon walls and through natural water channels. If you want the real adrenaline rush, go for zip lining through aerial bridges and rock climbing, which basically feels like flying Superman-style through the sky above the jungle.

When evening comes around, you'll gather with your travel group for a traditional Ecuadorian dinner, which marks the beginning of the end for this journey.
