- RCRod· October 18th, 2025Some good and some things that were done badly on another level. our tour company (intrepid travel) was useless. When we arrived at Zanzibar airport, we expected a driver to pick us up and take us to our resort. None came, so we took a taxi to our hotel. When we arrived at our hotel, we found out our reservation had been canceled. Thankfully, the hotel called the tour company, and the room was reinstated. When I inquired with the tour company as to why all this happened, they told me I had not sent our arrival information. There had been no request from them for that info. Every other tour we have been on has requested that information on the front end. The arrogance on the part of the intrepid tour representative was astounding. She also informed us that we would have to arrange our own transportation back to the airport. Their level of customer service on this matter was astoundingly bad. we were then supposed to be transferred to a hotel on Nungwi Beach but that was canceled and we spent three nights at a hotel at Kendwa Beach. The tour company was nice enough to get our room there upgraded for our troubles. That was the only good thing they did. We made the best of everything and enjoyed our three days there. But in conclusion, you should fire that tour company immediately, and seek a different representative. we have never had a problem with a tour radar vacation until now, and we will not let one screw up deter us from using you again. But Intrepid Travel does not represent you very well.Show more

No it's not a group tour it's what we call "Short Break" and each departure can have 1 to 12 passengers booked. Short Breaks don't have room sharing option, solo travelers must book the single share rate. On Short Breaks, you maintain a good level of independence and freedom, with the added bonus of having the details sorted out for you. You'll have lots of free time and you won't be accompanied by a Trip Leader.
