The gear list and pre-travel coordination was excellent, very helpful in setting expectations and making sure we had everything we needed to get going. On the trip itself our guide Alex was personable, enthusiastic & knowledgeable, always ready to teach us something about the region in specific or the country in general as well as offer advice related to the hike. The guest house accommodations were charming, with amazing food and comfortable rooms. The hiking was challenging but approachable broken up into achievable daily segments with clearly communicated levels of effort required. The views of the countryside were breathtaking throughout with the section traversing Vikos Gorge & the section from the Astraka Mountain Hut to the Dragon Lake being absolute highlights. I cannot stop showing off my pictures & bragging about going to a place before any of my friends. I would 100% consider using Trails Beyond for further trips or even re-doing this tour it was that good!Show more

The hotels were charming and the mountain hut an experience - there the lack of ventilation in a small room full of people was disturbing. When choosing a car given to our group they had not realised that we all had big suitcases plus other bags, so it was difficult to get all in, but our guide was a master organizing it . He recommended the best places to eat and have a hot drink or pie. Dimitris alone made our trip a 10/10 alone :D The landscapes and the hike was excellent aswell, easy to low-intermediate difficulty. Anybody could make them :) Great views and nature wonders :) I recommend all who're reading this review :) You won't regret it. Ask for Dimitris as a tourguide. The Astraka mountain hut provides blankets and pillows. We recommend bringing liner sheets for hygiene. A sleeping bag is not necessary. However, due to snowfalls, the refuge might open later, and we may have alternative plans.

On the tour's last day, the bus usually drops you at the airport around 18:00pm. You will have enough time to catch your flight at 20:25pm.

This tour starts on day 1 in Athens, which is practically free for everyone to arrive at their preferred time. There is a scheduled welcome briefing in the evening around 18:00-18:30 and an optional group dinner, but the group basically departs next morning from Athens to the Zagori area, so even a late arrival would be fine.
