Itinerary
- Days 1 - 3
Johannesburg to Zululand
You'll leave Johannesburg early and drive across the Highveld into KwaZulu Natal, arriving at your lodge on a private nature reserve. After settling in, take a morning walk through the bush to get oriented. Then head out on an afternoon game drive in Mkuzi Game Reserve where you can watch wildlife gathering at a waterhole hide. Day three shifts focus to Hluhluwe Game Reserve for more game viewing opportunities.

- Day 4
Kosi Bay Nature Reserve
This afternoon you'll walk down to Kosi Bay lake and explore the ecosystem by boat, seeing the mangroves and coastal habitats up close. The next morning, a 4WD transfer takes you to the estuary mouth where you can watch traditional subsistence tidal trap fishing methods. You'll have the rest of the day free to swim, walk the beach, or snorkel the shallow reefs if you're interested.

- Days 5 - 6
Ponta do Ouro
Head to Ponta do Ouro in Southern Mozambique and join a local dolphin research team for three boat trips. You'll snorkel on shallow reefs and look for dolphins and whales in their natural habitat. Depending on conditions, there's potential to swim with dolphins since the area supports about 400 individual dolphins, with roughly 150 that stay year-round.

- Day 7
Maputo
You'll reach Maputo, Mozambique's economic hub situated on a natural harbour and formerly called Lourenço Marques. This city blends Portuguese and African cultures in interesting ways. Spend your time walking through the streets and trying excellent seafood at a local restaurant to get a sense of the place.

- Days 8 - 9
Inhambane to Praia de Barra
Travel north along the Indian Ocean coastline, driving through mango and cashew nut plantations toward Inhambane. Once there, walk through town and visit the 200-year-old cathedral and fresh produce market. After that, you'll head to Praia de Barra where the warm sea and white beaches invite relaxation. Optional activities include dhow rides, scuba diving, fishing, and surfing if you want something more active.

Xai-Xai
You'll drive south along the coast to a secluded fishing lodge on the beach north of Xai-Xai, situated on coastal dunes with views of natural bush and the expansive beach. At low tide, a rocky reef creates a shallow, calm pool perfect for snorkelling and swimming. Your final beach evening features a fish braai dinner at the lodge restaurant with ocean views.

Limpopo Transfrontier Park to Kruger National Park
Leave the coast behind and travel through Limpopo Transfrontier Park before entering Kruger National Park. As you head toward your camp, you'll enjoy an exciting game drive with chances to spot lions, giraffes, elephants, and other big game. Day 12 continues early in the morning for more exploration before you settle into a private game lodge.

Landmarks Kruger National Park - Day 14
Private Game Reserve to Johannesburg
Your last day begins with a game walk on foot through the private game reserve alongside your rangers. While you might spot big game, the guides will also point out tracks and signs throughout the African bush, explaining the stories they tell. Head back to the lodge for brunch and then make your way back to Johannesburg in the evening.
