- ROROSE DEE· November 3rd, 2018It was an arranged tour by Intrepid together with their lodge/private reserve partners. As for me, I stayed at Bondux lodge and I has a great experience. The staff were friendly and well informed. The accommodation is great, meals and optional activities. I enjoyed chilling at the deack and watching the animals come. Also, the optional activity that I took was Endangered Animals Reserve and Blyde Canyon boat tour.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewHi Rose, Thank you for sharing your experience, I am really pleased you had a great time. - SKSatoru· August 29th, 2018First time participation. First and last Africa. It was great to experience this safari. 6 hours to go, 8 hours to return, not much trouble. Close to the Big 5 was seen. It's not a zoo. now. A wild, lively animal is in front of you. Impressive thing.Show moreTrip date: August 2018
- Kari· August 29th, 2018Kruger is amazing, as was the game drive. If I were to do it again, I'd change my optional day's itinerary from the panorama route tour (overpriced for what you get, and you see the best part of it included in your return drive to joburg) for another day in Kruger.Show moreTrip date: August 2018
- Tristan· November 25th, 20175+ Stars! I had the most AMAZING experience with INTREPID on a safari in South Africas, Kruger National Park. We saw all the big 5, ate well, felt safe, and had an absolutely amazing once in a lifetime type guide! I very strongly advise those who choose this trip to ask for a man who works at the Timbaviti game lodge named Johane. This is the guy you want taking you on African safari for the unforgettable experience and amazing photographs! The highest of recommendations for this guide and his camping safari. -TristanShow moreTrip date: November 2017

Asked on May 29th, 2025How many people need to sign up for a tour for it to happen? Is there a chance our tour will be cancelled?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written May 2025
Our tours run with a minimum of just 1 traveller, and the group size can go up to a maximum of 16. So as soon as one spot is paid and confirmed, the trip is guaranteed to go ahead. If there'll be any cancellations due to an unexpected issue we will notify you well in advance.

Traveler•Written May 2025Why is the travel time to the park 9 hours and the travel time back to Johannesburg 10 hours? When I route OR Tambo airport to Kruger National Park on Google Maps, it says it should only be 6 hours.
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written May 2025
While Google Maps shows around 6 hours of direct driving from Tambo to Kruger National Park, our itinerary includes a few important additions that account for the longer travel times: Stops Along the Way – We often make rest stops for meals, bathroom breaks, and to stretch your legs, especially on long travel days. Scenic Detours – On the return journey, we include a visit to Blyde River Canyon and the Three Rondavels, which is a stunning highlight and adds to the day's duration.

Cathy
Traveler•Written June 2022Is there an option to be dropped off at Kruger airport on the last day?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written June 2022
There would be the ability to get to the airport that you wish- it is 162miles away from Kruger National Park, but you would be able to arrange a transfer in destination. You would be leaving the group if this is your choice and you would 'sign off' of the tour. There is no pro rating for any missed portions.

Asked on June 4th, 2022We are family of 4 adults & One kid 2 years old (including 2 Sr. citizen)..we're thinking to travel South Africa. We want to avail 4 days or 3 days tour for Kruger National Park. At what time we return to Johannesburg. Can a 2 yr child participate.
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written June 2022
Unfortunately, our tours do have a minimum age of at least 5 years old, if not 15 years old, depending on the tour. The tour you have chosen, the Kruger Lodge Experience, has a minimum age of 6 years old. We will not be able to organise a trip for your family, due to our age limitations.

Asked on December 1st, 2016Can you arrange a pre/post accommodation for us?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written December 2016
Yes an additional pre/post tour accommodation and transfers can be arranged, however please note that the pricing for the Cape Town experience is for Hostel accommodation, not 3 star hotel, and it seems like this is not available as an option in this independent tour.

Asked on March 1st, 2016What is considered the BIG 5?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written March 2016
The Big 5 are considered the five most difficult animals in Africa to hunt on foot, chosen for the difficulty in hunting them and the degree of danger involved, rather than their size. These five animals are the African lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, African leopard, and White/Black rhinoceros and you have an excellent chance of seeing all of them on this tour.
