- Lucie· May 9th, 2025This trip massively exceeded our expectations. I'm not sure where to start! Guides - fantastic, every one of them. We had Abdou, an active Egyptologist/archaeologist for the first couple of days. He gave us the best start to our time in Egypt that we could have wished for. We had Medhat for the next 5 days. It was Ramadan and you'd never have known he was working in heat without food or water. He organised everything, was friendly and so so so knowledgeable.Show moreGetaways Egypt commented on this reviewThank you for your feedback and for choosing Getaways Egypt for your Egyptian journey. - CMCarmen· May 5th, 2025An amazing adventure we will never forget. Beginning from the moment we were greeted at the airport to the moment we were transferred back to the make our way home, this tour group went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed every minute of our vacation. At times it was tiring with early starting times multiple days in a row, but it was necessary to see all of the amazing things Egypt has to offer. So be prepared and plan to rest when you get home. The Nile cruise leg was especially wonderful because we were lucky enough to have Ashraf as our guide. He is extremely knowledgeable and shares the information in an interesting and fun style. He also took care of us as if we were his family and not a bunch of strangers he had to babysit. I recommend him highly and with the utmost confidence. We were a small group and I for one appreciate this tour company keeping the size of the group small because it greatly enhanced our enjoyment. We were able to get to know each other and made new friends from many parts of the world.Show moreGetaways Egypt commented on this reviewThank you for your feedback and for choosing Getaways Egypt for your Egyptian journey. - Alessandro· April 24th, 2025A truly unforgettable experience thanks to our exceptional guide, Hamed We had the privilege of enjoying four unforgettable days during our Nile cruise, thanks above all to our guide, Hamed, an Egyptologist of extraordinary knowledge, passion, and humanity. From the very first day, he proved to be not only extremely well-prepared—guiding us through Egypt’s millennia-old history with brilliance and depth—but also constantly smiling and available, even in the face of the inevitable challenges that can arise during a tour. His ability to handle every small issue with calm, professionalism, and grace made all the difference, allowing us to enjoy the journey with peace of mind and curiosity. Hamed didn’t limit himself to sharing the usual stories: he took us on a deeper journey through history, revealing little-known aspects, fascinating details, and insightful reflections that only someone who truly loves what they do can offer. Guides like Hamed are rare to find: knowledgeable, passionate, tireless, and always attentive to the needs of each participant. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for turning this trip into a memory we will carry with us forever.!Show moreGetaways Egypt commented on this reviewThank you for your feedback and for choosing Getaways Egypt for your Egyptian journey. - Anne· April 8th, 2025This tour was comprehensive and covered all aspects of the Egyptian culture, not only the ancient history (although the ancient culture is 99%, we had some insights about the modern culture during the optional tour to Old Cairo and Museum of Civilisation). The accommodation (Tolip Golden Plaza hotel in Cairo) and the boat (Radamis Floating Hotels) were comfortable and very decent. The boat staff and the food were also great! Please note that you must have a good overall fitness to be able to attend all tours. There are also some very early mornings (like 3am/5am...) to fit the schedule in. However, despite the lack of sleep and tiredness, the tour was memorable! Our group bonded and really enjoy the time together. Also, you can always have some relaxing time at the boat deck :) Althought I enjoyed the whole trip and all tours we purchased, the nile cruise was the highlight of this tour. Ashraf is the best or the four tour guides we had in the 10 days we spent with Nourbelle, and I can't thank him enough for the expectacular experience he provided to us and the rest of the group. He was incredibly knowledgeable and patient with our (very diverse) group!Show moreGetaways Egypt commented on this reviewThank you for your feedback and for choosing Getaways Egypt for your Egyptian journey. - ECEDUARDO· March 25th, 2025Overall the tour was ok. I have taken this tour before with another company and the experience was much better. I am not pleased with the additional charges for entrance fees. It's not made clear in the tour company's website when you do the booking. It's hidden under additional services. I learn about the entrance fees two days before the tour began. I received a message from the tour organizer. This gives you the feeling that the tour company is using deceitful practices. With other tour companies entrances fees have been included in the tour price. Also, I was asked to pay for tips in one payment. But, latter I was told that in addition, I had to tip two individuals, too. I will not use this tour company ever again.Show moreTrip date: March 2025
- AVAidar· March 24th, 2025Summary - was it worth it? Yeah! Would I go with this company again? I'd think about it *really* hard. Cons: - The tour guides/company will do perfectly what they're supposed to do. But then they take you to "trusted, no scam shops" - sweets, carpets, perfume, souvenir shops etc. Those shops look very legit, well organized, clean, official, if you will, but they are *huge* scams with prices ramped up 4-5 times at least. Essentially you are being scammed by the tour guides/company who you trust, who you pay for the tour and who you pay to ensure this doesn't happen. And imagine this being your first time in an arab country and not knowing any better. And when asked about the prices the tour guides will NOT tell you're being scammed, but the opposite. They are obviously getting a commission on bringing you in and off you being scammed. You're paying to relax, enjoy the ride for which you pay on top of being sleep deprived due to early mornings only to be essentially scammed by the company/guides. Also, the things you'll buy in said shops will be nothing like the samples they give you you to try. I've also tipped tour guides rather generously, in my opinion, but that didn't stop them from attempting to scam, so that's another disappointment. Yes, ashamed to say I've fell for the aforementioned scams due to misplaced trust. - The camel rides in the desert, we were told, should've been free from the usual hassle, trusted people were picked to do the ride, but that wasn't the case as I was isolated from the group and was being extorted for money in a very rude way (to put it politely) for a very long time ruining the experience. Heard similar from others. - Kitty tip will be around 200 USD, they should be transparent about the cost on the tour description but strangely it's not. So be prepared! And then you'll also be encouraged to tip extra. - Packed breakfast for early departures (2-4 AM) are small cheap buns with a tiny slice of cheese considering you're paying for a proper full breakfast so you'll be deprived of sleep and have little energy due to hunger (yes, I'm a growing boy) until lunchtime from a very early morning. Not a good state to be in where every day counts on the trip. Another person ordered vegan and got a chunk of cabbage, not sliced. There's really 0 effort and quality there. So pack your own food! Or take a dinner plate to your room. - This probably depends but you'll be waking up at 1-3 AM for a few nights during the trip. I do wonder if that could be done better. - This is a personal preference but perhaps the lectures at sites were way too long. I can't imagine these issues are a recent occurrence or that anything will be done about them. I guess it's just part of the culture. It's a long list of cons but I did enjoy the trip very much. Pros: - Nile cruise amazing. Having a drink whilst watching the sunset sailing on the Nile or just sitting on the roof at night watching the scenery pass was very beautiful. The boat crew were very professional. - Really amazing sites, a must see (aside from Alexandria, personally) at least once in a lifetime. - Despite guides scamming you the job that they are supposed to do they do very well - they're friendly, ensure individual needs are met, keep the group together, fun to be around. - Overall it's very well organised, everything went smoothly, no hiccups. Transportation had proper Aircon, comfortable for long rides. Hotels were ok (minor but seems they are never vacuumed). Everything on time.Show moreTrip date: March 2025
- DSDouglas· February 28th, 2025I thought that this trip was a very comprehensive look at Egyptian culture while also some exciting opportunities to explore. While we had to get up very early a number of days to make sure that we fit everything in, our group bonded and really enjoy the time we spent getting to know each other, as well as the fascinating sites and history around us. Shout out to Saladino who was our guide - he was incredibly knowledgeable and patient with our group of 20! Accommodation in Cairo, and on the boat was comfortable, and great value to be honest, even though it wasn’t luxurious.Show moreGetaways Egypt commented on this reviewThank you for your feedback and for choosing Getaways Egypt for your Egyptian journey. - JFJonathan· February 26th, 2025Our Nile cruise was an unforgettable journey through ancient history and stunning landscapes. From start to finish, it was clear that this experience was well worth the price, offering not just a scenic voyage but also rich cultural immersion at every stop. One of the standout aspects of the trip was the itinerary—each day brought a new adventure, with intermediary stops at some of Egypt’s most awe-inspiring temples. You’ll be up early most days but it’s worth it. From the grandeur of Karnak and Luxor Temples to the serene beauty Kom Ombo, we had ample time to explore, soak in the history, and appreciate the craftsmanship of these ancient structures. The balance between guided tours and free time was perfect, allowing for structured learning as well as personal discovery and shopping. A key highlight was our tour guide, Saladino, who was nothing short of fantastic. His deep knowledge, engaging storytelling, and ability to bring history to life made each site visit even more meaningful. He managed to keep the group engaged while also making room for individual questions, adding a personal touch to the experience. Beyond the included excursions, there were plenty of optional activities to enhance the adventure. From a sunrise hot air balloon ride over Luxor to a mesmerizing sound and light show at Abu Simbel, there was always something extra for those wanting to dive deeper. The flexibility to tailor the experience to personal preferences was a huge plus. The cruise itself was a perfect retreat after days of exploration. The onboard amenities, including a (unheated) pool with a view of the Nile, buffet meals, and spacious cabins, made it a relaxing and comfortable journey. Watching the riverbanks glide by from the deck was a serene experience, offering glimpses of local villages, palm groves, and the occasional fisherman waving from a felucca. If you’re considering a Nile cruise, I can confidently say this was absolutely worth it. Between the well-planned itinerary, the opportunity to see Egypt’s wonders up close, and the outstanding guidance of Saladino, this trip exceeded all expectations. Highly recommended!Show moreGetaways Egypt commented on this reviewThank you for your feedback and for choosing Getaways Egypt for your Egyptian journey. - LRLeila· February 8th, 2025An enriching enlightening thoroughly enjoyable trip thanks to our highly professional caring friendly guides Abdou in Cairo, and Saladino on the Nile cruise leg of the tour, who made history come alive with their in depth knowledge of, passion for and engaging commentary on ancient Egyptian civilisation.
