Itinerary
- Day 1
Sydney to Cessnock
A driver picks you up at 9 am to start the day in The Rocks with an Aboriginal guide who shares stories about the Gadigal people and their deep connection to the land. After grabbing lunch, you'll head north toward Hunter Valley where a sommelier leads you through a wine tasting. By evening you're settled in Cessnock for the night.

- Day 2
Cessnock to Port Macquarie
This morning you travel north along the coast and stop at Crowdy Bay National Park. The route takes you through Diamond Head where you hike across heath and rainforest, seeing quartz-sparkled cliffs and quiet coves. Keep an eye out for kangaroos and marine life as you make your way to Port Macquarie, arriving later in the day.

Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour
Start by visiting the Koala Hospital to meet volunteers working on koala rehabilitation efforts. From there you drive to Bellingen for lunch and some free time to walk around. The afternoon takes you via the scenic Waterfall Way to Dorrigo National Park where you can wander through ancient rainforest, check out the Rainforest Centre, and walk the skywalk.

Coffs Harbour to Byron Bay
A Gumbaynggirr First Nations guide leads a walking tour of Red Rock, sharing their culture and connection to Country. After that you head to Yamba for lunch. Later in the day you reach Byron Bay Lighthouse where you can take photos and potentially spot dolphins and whales moving through the water.

- Day 5
Byron Bay
Today is yours to do what you want in Byron Bay. Wake up early to catch the sunrise from Australia's most easterly point or sleep in and take it slow. Check out quirky cafes around town, try a beginner's surf lesson, take a sea kayaking tour to see marine life, or just relax on the beach. Wind down with drinks at a local pub or bar.

Byron Bay to Brisbane
You'll head to The Farm, a working farm with micro-businesses focused on growing and education, where you can grab breakfast and pick up lunch supplies. Continue to Springbrook National Park for a short walk to the Natural Bridge rock arch formed by waterfall erosion. A stop at Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast gives you beach time before driving to Brisbane for the night.

Brisbane to Hervey Bay
There's a welcome meeting at 10 am, then you drive to Noosa Heads for lunch and some beach time. Shopping at local boutiques is available if you want to browse, or you can walk part of the Noosa Coastal Walk looking for local plants and animals. By afternoon you head to Hervey Bay, arriving in time to settle in for the night.

Hervey Bay to K'gari
A ferry takes you to K'gari (Fraser Island) for a day trip. You'll drive along the famous 75 Mile Beach Road and swim in the clear turquoise waters of Boorangoora Lake McKenzie with its pure silica sand. Eli Creek offers fresh water to refresh in, and you can explore the colored sand pinnacles and the Maheno shipwreck. Watch for dingoes while crossing dunes before returning to Hervey Bay by evening.

- Day 9
Hervey Bay to Maryborough West
Today is free in Hervey Bay, Australia's first certified Whale Heritage Area. During migration season (July-October) you might spot whales, or you can cycle along the foreshore, take a stroll by the water, go kayaking, or spend time on the beaches. Grab snacks for later since you'll board the Spirit of Queensland train departing Maryborough West station for an overnight journey north.

Proserpine to Airlie Beach
A new leader meets you early this morning at Proserpine train station. You'll head to Airlie Beach where optional breakfast is available at a local cafe. The rest of your day is open to explore this coastal hub of the Whitsundays with palm trees, beer gardens, trendy cafes, and a lawn-fringed swimming lagoon. Wander around, visit swimming spots, watch the sunset from a bar, and there's an optional group dinner if you want to join.

Airlie Beach to Whitehaven Beach
A full-day tour takes you to Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsunday Islands at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. Start with a walk to Hill Inlet Lookout for sweeping ocean photos, then snorkel at secret spots to see coral reefs, colorful fish, turtles and clams. This is a longer travel day with stops to stretch your legs. You arrive in Townsville and visit Castle Hill lookout for photos of the town and ocean. Free time lets you grab lunch and relax by the water. Later you continue to Big Crystal Creek in Paluma Range National Park where you can take a stroll, swim in the creek, or watch for birds. By afternoon you drive to Lucinda for the night.

Lucinda to Mission Beach
After breakfast you visit Mungalla Station to meet the Nywaigi First Nations owners and learn about their culture and conflicts with European settlers through historic homestead exhibitions. The Mungalla wetlands offer chances to spot aquatic birds. Then you drive to Mission Beach, a small coastal town with palm-lined beaches. A stop in Tully gives you time to stretch your legs before continuing.

Mission Beach to Cairns
After breakfast you drive to Millaa Millaa Falls for a nature walk and a refreshing swim in the cascades. Lunch happens at a local cafe in Yungaburra, then you explore the Curtain Fig boardwalk to see the iconic fig tree with 15 meter aerial roots forming a natural curtain. Lake Eacham, an old volcanic site and home to Australia's largest python, lets you take a swim while watching for freshwater crocodiles. You arrive in Cairns around 5 pm.
