- Day 2
Bangkok
The day starts with an optional T'ai Chi session in Lumpini Park if you're up early, or you can sleep in and join the city tour later. You'll see the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew temple, then move on to Wat Pho where the giant reclining Buddha is located. A traditional Thai massage is included here. By express river boat along the Chao Praya, you'll head back to your hotel, passing Wat Arun on the way.

You'll take a cooking class in a colonial-style house with a Local Specialist to learn about Thai cuisine. After preparing and tasting your dishes, the afternoon is yours to explore Bangkok on your own or join an optional trip to Jim Thompson's House to see an impressive Asian art collection.

Bangkok - Damnoen Saduak - Kanchanaburi
Early in the morning you'll head to the floating market at Damnoen Saduak to see merchants paddling canoes filled with fresh produce. Next, you'll stop at a coconut palm sugar plantation to watch how farmers extract sap and make palm sugar. After lunch at a local restaurant, you'll visit the Bridge over the River Kwai and walk across it. The Thailand-Burma Railway Museum and War Cemetery follow, where you can learn about WWII history.

Kanchanaburi
This morning you'll visit Hellfire Pass, a section of the Thailand-Burma Death Railway where prisoners endured brutal conditions during WWII. After lunch, there's a thrilling train ride across wooden viaducts along the winding Kwai River. You'll get off and walk across one of the wooden viaducts for a close look. Dinner at a local restaurant wraps up the evening.

There you'll check out the ruins from an 18th-century Burmese invasion and learn about its trading heritage. After lunch at a local restaurant, you'll head back to Bangkok for your flight to Sukhothai, Thailand's first capital.

Sukhothai
You'll explore the UNESCO-listed Sukhothai Historical Park, which has thousands of years of history and includes a 15-meter seated Buddha. This afternoon, you'll visit a local family's home to learn traditional amulet making and how these talismans are believed to protect people from harm.

Then you'll travel to Chiang Mai. This evening, you'll walk through the colorful Sunday market with your Travel Director. Your hotel is in Chiang Mai's old town.

You'll visit Wat Suan Dok temple to meet a local monk and learn about Buddhism with a golden chedi as the backdrop. After that you'll head to a small village for a northern Thai style meal with a family living in a traditional stilt house. Later you'll see the hand-painted fans and colorful paper umbrellas that Chiang Mai's Sankamphaeng district is known for.

You'll transfer to the airport for your international flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia, with a connection through Bangkok. When you arrive, you'll meet your local Cambodian Travel Director. The rest of the day is yours to settle in and explore on your own.

Siem Reap - Angkor Wat - Krabei Riel
You'll walk through a pyramid-shaped gateway into Angkor Wat and cross the causeway over a moat into this spiritual center of the lost city. Stone faces watch over the intricate carvings of celestial nymphs and serpents. Next you'll visit Banteay Srei Temple to see its delicate 10th-century carvings. At Krabei Riel village you'll learn traditional skills like palm leaf weaving from villagers. This evening features traditional Cambodian food and an Apsara dance performance.

Then you'll wander through Ta Prohm with its mossy ruins famously from the Tomb Raider film, discovering towers and stone carvings among the foliage. This afternoon you'll visit Artisans d'Angkor to support Khmer silk making and wood carving. At Wat Damnak you'll receive a private blessing with a sacred thread. An optional sunset boat cruise on Tonlé Sap Lake can finish your day.
