- Philip· February 10th, 2023i guess Tourradar acts a travel agent for many operators. This does lead to a slight disjointing of the booking experience, but they did pick some good tours to promote. As to the trip itself, put together by local Madeira tour operator MB Travel, and tied together by Headwater Travel UK. 'Marvels of Madeira' gave a good cross section of the walking routes on the Island. Pick ups and taxis were all smoothly present when needed. The Hotel stays were well chosen to give a great, peaceful and comfortable stays, if rather grander than needed. Being set on Half board meant no worries about extra spends - only the bar bill to surmount. As this was a self guided tour, the initial briefing was important and well conducted. My only niggles were the ancillary services. Tourradars travel insurance deals were not flexible enough to take on a peronally arranged extension to my stay, and the flight agency (Kiwi.com) had a hefty booking mark up. Otherwise, a great Walking holiday. PhilipShow more
- Lyn· September 28th, 2025Everything about the group experience was fantastic. Small group of 14 made up of 13 English and 3 Australians plus Rob, our guide. He is engaging and knowledgeable on all aspects of nature, history, local culture and extremely competent in mountain guiding. We were accommodated, organised and entertained by Rob each day on tour. The hotel Adler in Villabassa was comfortable and quiet in a small village atmosphere but had exceptional food. Each dinner was fabulous and food varied to showcase the more Austrian location. We found this a great variation on the cuisine we had been enjoying in other Italian regions prior to our hiking week. The staff there were very friendly and engaging at all times. We made use of all Ammenities including the indoor pool and gym after hiking and on the rest day. The highlight of the hotel experience was the traditional meal in the wine cellar. Fabulous ambience, food and wine. Our family cannot recommend this highly enough. We have just completed the week, starting near the end of September. Whilst still warm on the first day, we had first snow later that weekShow more
