Rome
You'll arrive in Rome and transfer to your hotel, then have the rest of the day to settle in. Check at the hotel reception for details about your scheduled tour activities.

- Day 2
Rome
A three-hour guided tour takes you through Imperial Rome by foot and then by panoramic bus. You'll see the Arch of Constantine, the Colosseum exterior, and the Imperial Forums before heading to Vatican City around 11:00 a.m. The Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel visit is optional. After that, you'll transfer to Trastevere for dinner in the evening and return around 8:30 p.m.

You have the day free to explore Rome on your own. Optional excursions are available depending on the season: Capri island from April through October, or Naples and Pompeii from November through March.

- Day 4
Orvieto - Castiglione del Lago - Siena
Head out through Umbria starting at Orvieto, a medieval city sitting on a hilltop. You'll take escalators up to the medieval center and see the Gothic cathedral. From there, you'll go to Castiglione del Lago on the shores of Lake Trasimeno for a walk and lunch. Later, continue to Siena in Tuscany and spend the afternoon exploring Piazza del Campo and the Duomo.

Leave Siena and stop at Monteriggione, a small medieval village with cobbled streets and historic walls. Next, you'll reach San Gimignano, known for its tall medieval towers. After lunch, head to Florence, arriving in the early afternoon.

- Day 6
Florence
Start with a photo stop at the Michelangelo viewpoint for city views. Then join a guided walking tour of Florence's center. You'll see the Duomo di Firenze cathedral, the Ponte Vecchio bridge with its goldsmith shops, and Piazza della Signoria. Free time follows the tour.

Travel to Pisa and take a tourist train to Piazza dei Miracoli to see the Leaning Tower. Head to the Ligurian Riviera and visit Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with five villages. Train tickets are included. You'll arrive at one of the towns (usually Vernazzo), have lunch, then take a train to Levanto and bus to Genoa for free time.

Travel to Santa Margherita Ligure and take a boat to Portofino for a seaside stroll and free time. After lunch, head to Milan and explore this modern city on your own. Check out the Gothic cathedral in Piazza del Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.

- Day 9
Milan - Lake Orta - Lake Maggiore - Verona
Explore the Italian Lakes region. You'll go to Lake Orta in Orta San Giulio, a well-preserved medieval city. Take a train to the center, then a boat to the Island of San Giulio and its monastery. Move on to Lake Maggiore and stop in Stresa. An optional visit to the Borromean Islands, particularly Isola Bella, is available. Have lunch and then head to Verona.

Verona - Venice
Leave Verona and arrive in Venice around 1:00 p.m. You'll take a boat to St. Mark's Square and join a guided walking tour of Venice including Murano glasswork. Free time after the tour gives you the chance to explore more, maybe take a gondola ride. Your accommodation is in the Mestre district.

Venice to Palermo
Transfer to the airport at a scheduled time for your included domestic flight. After arriving at your destination, you'll get a hotel transfer. Your guide will contact you by late afternoon or you can check for information at your hotel.

Palermo
Take a guided tour of Palermo. You'll visit the Cathedral with its blend of architectural styles and royal tombs, the Norman Palace with its fountains and gardens, and Monreale Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its golden mosaics. Return to Palermo for a free afternoon.

Leave Palermo and follow the Tyrrhenian Sea coastline inland to Castelbuono, a mountain town with ancient walls. Continue to Cefalù, a coastal town with a UNESCO World Heritage Norman cathedral featuring unique architecture and mosaics. After lunch, visit Tindari where the Sanctuary sits on a mountain overlooking the sea, home to the Black Madonna and nearby Greek ruins. End in Milazzo, a lively port city with views of the Aeolian Islands.

Travel by hydrofoil to the Aeolian Islands, UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Visit Vulcano first, known for active fumaroles and hot water beaches with sulfurous mud. Continue by hydrofoil to Lipari, the largest island, with its historic center and castle. Have lunch and explore at your own pace. Return to Milazzo by boat and continue to Taormina, arriving by evening. Dinner is included.

Start early in Taormina at the foot of Mount Etna. Head to Giardini Naxos, the first Greek settlement in Sicily from 734 B.C., and walk the seafront. Explore Taormina's old town and its Greek Theater with views of the surrounding landscape. After lunch, visit the Roman Villa of Casale, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with 4th-century architecture and Roman mosaics. Cross through Sicily's mountains and arrive in Palermo by evening. Dinner is included.
