- Day 1
Athens
You'll get transferred to your hotel in Athens, and the rest of the afternoon is free to settle in. Stop by the information board at hotel reception to check for details about when your tour actually starts.

- Day 2
Athens
A local guide takes you around Athens to see the Presidential Mansion, Panathenaic Stadium, and the National Library. You'll walk through city center squares and check out neighborhoods that came up after the 2004 Olympics. Before heading back, you'll go up to the Acropolis. Later in the evening, you'll transfer over to Plaka, the old historic neighborhood full of traditional Greek tavernas.

- Day 3
Athens to Patras
You'll travel into the Peloponnese and stop at the Corinth Canal, a really impressive piece of 19th-century engineering. Then it's through the mountains to Tripoli where you'll spend time at Aeros Square. After that, you head to Olympia for a guided tour of the Archaeological Site where the first Olympic Games happened back in 776 B.C. You'll see the Temple of Zeus, Stadium, Gymnasium, and Arena. By evening you'll be in Patras, checking out its medieval fortress and the country's largest cathedral.

- Day 4
Patras to Brindisi
After breakfast you'll cross the Rio-Antirrio suspension bridge, which connects the Peloponnese to the mainland. From there you travel through Central Greece and Epirus to the port town of Igoumenitsa and get some time to walk around. At 2:00 p.m. you board a modern ferry that takes you across the Ionian Sea to Italy, pulling into Brindisi around 9:00 p.m.

- Day 5
Brindisi to Naples
You'll see Alberobello with its distinctive conical-roofed trulli houses, which make up a UNESCO World Heritage Site and show off traditional Italian rural building styles. Next you head to Matera in Basilicata to explore the Sassi di Matera, an old complex carved right into the rock and one of the longest continuously lived-in human settlements. Lunch happens in Matera, then you drive through the beautiful mountains of Basilicata and Campania, getting into Naples by evening with free time to look around.

- Day 6
Naples to Salerno
From Naples port you take a ferry out to Capri. You'll ride the funicular up to Capri town for a walk and get those views across the water. After lunch you get back on the ferry and head to Sorrento, a charming tourist town built right at the base of a cliff where you'll have free time to wander around. Then it's on to the Gulf of Salerno area where you'll spend the night.

- Day 7
Salerno to Rome
Your day starts at Pompeii where you see the ancient Roman city that got buried under ash from Mount Vesuvius. You'll head into Naples afterward, one of Italy's oldest continuously inhabited cities, to see its historic UNESCO World Heritage quarter and grab lunch there. From Naples you continue to Cassino to visit an historic abbey, a site that saw intense World War II fighting, arriving in Rome by evening.
