Itinerary
- Day 1
La Paz
Your Bolivia adventure starts with a welcome meeting at 6 pm. If you arrive early in La Paz, there's plenty to see beforehand. Walk through the side streets, take a cable car up to the Witches Market to browse local crafts and goods, or head out to Moon Valley for views of the surrounding mountains. After the meeting wraps up, you'll likely head out with the group for dinner and get to know your fellow travelers.

La Paz
This day is yours to explore La Paz however you'd like. The Museo de la Coca gives you background on the coca plant's role in local culture and history. Alternatively, join a food tour to try fresh fish from Lake Titicaca and sample local chocolate. Later in the afternoon, you'll board an overnight bus heading to Sucre, which takes around 11 to 12 hours, so plan for sleep on the road.

Sucre
You'll roll into Sucre in the morning and drop your bags at the hotel. After that, the day opens up for you to wander this World Heritage capital and take in the Spanish colonial architecture at your own pace. Check out the 400-year-old Museo de la Recoleta for city views and its art collection. Plaza 25 de Mayo is worth a walk through, and the interior of Senora de la Merced shows off some real local character.

Sucre
Another free day in Sucre to spend however you want. Wander the white-washed streets and duck into the medieval churches, or tackle the pre-Inca Chataquila trek if you're up for hiking and want Andes views. Cal Orcko has thousands of prehistoric dinosaur footprints (over 12,000 altogether) embedded in the rock. Grab lunch at the Central Market where they serve fresh empanadas and juice that hit the spot.

Potosi
Board a local bus to Potosi this morning, a 3 to 4 hour ride into a colonial mining town that was once the richest city in the Americas because of silver from Cerro Rico. You'll tour the mountain and learn about its history. The Santa Teresa Convent Museum lets you see art and treasures still housed in the original convent walls, giving you a sense of what life was like centuries ago.

Uyuni
Travel to Uyuni by local bus, another 3 to 4 hour journey. This remote town sits on the edge of the Altiplano near the Argentina and Chile border, positioned above the world's largest lithium reserve. When you arrive, take time to rest and adjust to the altitude before tomorrow's adventure out to the Salt Flats begins.

Salar de Uyuni
This morning you're heading out on a three-day 4WD excursion into some otherworldly terrain. First stop is the Train Cemetery to see old locomotives left to rust in the desert. Then comes Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt flats, where you'll see a vast white landscape broken up by islands dotted with cacti. Climb around Inca Wasi island with its coral-like rock formations and spot the giant cacti.

Andean Desert
After breakfast, you'll drive deeper into the Andean Desert wilderness. You'll pass Chiguana Salt Lake and the active Ollague Volcano, then stop at small lakes with different colored waters where you might catch sight of pink flamingos. The Siloli Desert has a seven-colored mountain and the Arbol de Piedra rock formation that's quite striking. Eduardo Avaroa Wildlife Reserve is next, where you can hike around Laguna Colorada spotting llamas, vicunas, and foxes. Dinner happens in a local community, either Huayllajara or Polques.

Geysers to Uyuni
Wake up early to catch the sunrise lighting up the geysers, which are most active in the cold morning air. If you're interested, there's a chance to soak in the hot springs. Then drive through barren landscapes that look like something from a Salvador Dali painting to reach Laguna Verde, Valle de Rocas, and the San Cristobal mining town. You'll be back in Uyuni by around 5 pm. The evening is open if you want to grab dinner and drinks with the group.

Uyuni to Tilcara
Today's a long travel day crossing the border into Argentina. You'll leave Uyuni at 6 am heading to La Quiaca, which takes until around 1:30 pm. The border crossing happens on foot, then it's a taxi ride to the bus station. After lunch with the group, you'll board the bus to Tilcara, arriving around 6 pm. There's nothing planned for the evening except settling in and resting after the journey.

Tilcara
You've got a free day to see Tilcara, a mountain valley town with indigenous culture that goes back over 10,000 years. The pre-Inca ruins at Pucara de Tilcara are worth checking out if you're into history. Head over to Purmamarca to see its colorful hills if you want a day trip. Back in Tilcara, try the empanadas at the Mercado Municipal or ask your group leader for other ideas on how to spend your time.

Tilcara to Buenos Aires
You'll have a relaxed morning in Tilcara before your transfer to Jujuy for an evening flight to Buenos Aires. Landing in the city, you'll step into one of South America's most vibrant capitals, where you'll find Latin passion mixed with European elegance and serious food culture. The next few days are open for you to choose your own path through neighborhoods like San Telmo and La Boca with its famous Caminito street, or catch tango in Palermo if that appeals to you.
